Analysis is a process by which we can develop an understanding of complex situations, objects, or systems by breaking them down into simple components. More than just separating, compiling, or describing individual components or subsets, analysis is a positive, exploratory critique of what is observed. Essentially, analysis can be seen as a process of asking questions, exposing [relationships between parts]—hidden patterns and synergies.

Are there elements in the system—types, categories, or classifications?Are there operations—using patterns, activities, or processes—to characterize the system?Why are these elements or operations important?How do they contribute to or weaken the whole?In what ways do these components work together to contribute to a larger narrative?

Studio A is all about analyzing relationships: utilizing design tools (drawing and modeling), the studio will take the opportunity to analyze – observe, examine, question, deconstruct and ultimately reconstruct a subject as a basis for the design and development of the architectural form.

Studio B deals with architectural issues through its role in architectural design. The studio focuses on materials, technology, and tectonics to reveal and inform design opportunities and solutions, and the central questions to be asked are what kind of relationships can be established between space, structure, technology, and users, and how they are intertwined and synthesized with each other. The studio's focus is on exploring architectural design through production.

The studio sees "architecture" as an important driving force in shaping architecture and encourages "making" as an act of design inquiry. At the events of the studio,. Through observation and experimentation with materials and tools, students can uncover the inner workings of material properties, how materials are synthesized and joined, the way building layers are assembled, and understand the connection of architecture to the environment and users.

The studio's main project requires students to design a small public building to study in a specific climate type. The focus of the in-depth study should be:

i) the availability, environmental impact, spatial effects and processes of building materials;

2) the structure and construction are suitable for the specific environment provided by the site and the building scheme;

3) The enclosure is designed to fit the environment and coordinate the user's indoor and outdoor environmental needs;

and 4) key structural details that ensure functional performance and establish the aesthetics of the building.

Making cities and human settlements safer, more inclusive, resilient and sustainable is at the heart of Studio C.

Today, dominated by economic interests, most cities in different parts of the globe are facing a lack of affordable rental apartments for low-income families. With the change in lifestyles during the pandemic, there has been a new rethinking of community life. In response to the common issues of sustainable housing and urban development, the Community Studio aims to speculate on the role of architecture in shaping the urban environment by conceptualizing alternative typologies.

These are some of the key questions that students must address in their architectural exploration.

The studio will explore how the concept of life adapts to different social contexts and urban conditions. Students will pay particular attention to the relationship between collective spaces and living units, and explore how meaningful interactions can be generated between residents and the rest of the city. Combining a blended curriculum with shared and collective facilities, students must adapt to the diverse needs of the community.

In order to meet the housing demand, new urban development tends to focus mainly on the construction of residential buildings and lacks public functions. However, the integration of various public projects is essential. Culturally significant buildings can be a mechanism for improving quality of life and a catalyst for improving the environment.

Through meticulous observation and inspiring solutions, Studio D will investigate the public realm and (re)discover social life, aiming to revitalize public life in contemporary architecture and urban design.

This year, studio D explores a "social condenser", a (semi-)public building, that will be implemented in the existing context, with the aim of injecting social projects in response to the needs of society. These designs will (partially) reuse and expand existing structures, rather than envisioning entirely new buildings. Students will begin to conduct thorough field research, including an analysis of the urban context and its inhabitants, conducting research through several types of data collection. Students are then asked to translate the research findings into an integrated architectural design solution, integrating the skills and knowledge acquired in the previous five semesters.
