Focusing on Southeast Asia, China Galaxy Securities' business has covered more than 10 countries and regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, etc., and has served more than 500,000 customers in ASEAN.

Explore new opportunities for ASEAN-China cooperation

Malaysia is one of the first countries to respond to the "Belt and Road" initiative, and the economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia has attracted much attention from the market. In recent years, China Galaxy Securities has been striving to build a bridge for the interconnection of China-ASEAN capital markets through the pivotal role of Galaxy Overseas.

It is reported that in 2023, China Galaxy Securities cooperated with Wells Fargo Fund to launch the first Vietnam-themed ETF on the SGX, which set a new high in the amount of ETF raised by the SGX that year when it was listed, and in 2024, as the lead underwriter, Galaxy Overseas successfully assisted Credit Bank of Thailand to complete the initial public offering project, raising 7.37 billion baht (about 1.45 billion yuan), becoming the largest IPO in the Thai market in recent years, and in addition, as a joint bookrunner, it successfully completed Sunway in Malaysia Berhad shares were placed in a total amount of RM345 million (approximately RMB530 million). In March last year, China Galaxy Securities also held the first China-ASEAN Business Leaders Summit in Singapore to build a communication platform for Chinese and ASEAN enterprises, financial institutions, governments, experts and scholars.

In order to explore new opportunities for China-ASEAN industrial investment and financing cooperation and help the interconnection of China-ASEAN capital markets, a special A-share strategy meeting for overseas investors was also held at the conference, which was attended by the chief economist and more than 10 chief analysts of China Galaxy Securities.

Zhang Jun, Chief Economist and Dean of the Research Institute of China Galaxy Securities, and Nazmi Idrus, Chief Economist of Galaxy Overseas Malaysia, delivered speeches on the topic of "China's Economic Outlook and the Strategic Development of the Belt and Road". At the same time, a roundtable discussion on "Interdependence and Investment Opportunities between Malaysia and China" will be held, and 9 strategy sharing sessions will be held in the fields of high-tech, new energy, renewable resources, medical and health care, so as to better serve the investment needs of Southeast Asian institutional investors in A-shares, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between listed companies and overseas investors.

Facilitate point-to-point and face-to-face communication between China and Malaysia

April 22-23 coincided with the Kuala Lumpur 20 Technology Conference (KL20 Conference) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The KL20 conference was hosted by the Malaysian government and co-organized by CGSI, a subsidiary of China Galaxy Securities, as the only Chinese institution, and invited representatives from venture capital, private equity, investors and business communities from China and Southeast Asia.

The conference provided an opportunity for investors, business founders and policymakers to network while helping all parties better understand Malaysia's startup ecosystem and future roadmap. At the meeting, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the "Kuala Lumpur 20 Action Plan", which aims to build Kuala Lumpur into one of the top 20 best startup cities in the world.

As the representative of China's sovereign wealth fund, Qi Bin, Deputy General Manager of CIC, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Continuously Strengthening Financial Cooperation between China and ASEAN". At the meeting, China Galaxy Securities and Galaxy Overseas jointly signed a letter of intent with the Malaysian government to establish private equity and venture capital funds. Luo Liming said at the meeting: "I believe that this will be a new beginning for China Galaxy Securities to continue to expand its business breadth and service depth in Malaysia, and we will further leverage our local advantages and professional capabilities to continuously contribute more to the connectivity and integration of the China-Malaysia capital market." ”

Norman, CEO of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd Group in Malaysia, said that China is a leading global economy, and Malaysia, as a rising economy, is willing to connect with China and learn from China's relevant development experience to achieve its goal of becoming one of the top 20 in the global start-up ecosystem by 2030.

Zhang Jun said that the economic and trade ties and cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN are becoming more frequent and deeper, and ASEAN investors are increasingly investing in the ASEAN region based on their judgment of China's economic upward trend, and Chinese-funded enterprises are increasingly choosing to "go overseas" to the ASEAN region and pay attention to investment in high-tech and new energy, which is also consistent with the development direction of China's industry. Feng Ruiliang said that Galaxy Overseas is not a traditional enterprise, it can provide a full range of solutions in the financial field, and he is full of confidence in strengthening China-ASEAN exchanges and cooperation and promoting the high-quality development of Galaxy Overseas in the future.

At the conference, China Galaxy Securities, as a city friendly messenger, actively promoted the signing of a letter of intent between Hangzhou and Kuala Lumpur. In January this year, with the assistance of Galaxy Overseas, Hangzhou Venture Capital Association visited Malaysia, where the two sides had in-depth discussions and planned to cooperate under the framework of "Kuala Lumpur 20". In February, the Ministry of Economy of Malaysia asked Galaxy Overseas to assist in contacting Hangzhou and Kuala Lumpur to form a friendship exchange city.

In the future, the two cities will work together to promote technology and innovation, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, e-commerce, smart cities, start-up ecosystem development and AI regulatory framework, participants said. China Galaxy Securities also said that the company will continue to play an important role as a bridge.
