The scale of the core industry of the industrial Internet has reached 1.35 trillion yuan, why is "identification" important?

As the key foundation for the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, the industrial Internet is a strategic infrastructure to promote new industrialization. In particular, the scale of the core industry of the industrial Internet in mainland China has reached 1.35 trillion yuan, and the full coverage of all 41 industrial categories has been realized, and the role of the identification analysis system is prominent.

"Whether we are talking about trust and intelligence, or the future era of artificial intelligence, signage will be the most critical and important general facilities and services for the whole society. Jin Jian, director of the Institute of Industrial Internet and Internet of Things of the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, said at the 2024 Spark Ecological Conference held recently.

Why Industrial Internet Identification Matters

"The industrial Internet identification and analysis system is an important component of the new infrastructure of the industrial Internet, and it is of great significance to promote the interconnection and interoperability of the industrial Internet across systems, links and regions. Wang Peng, a first-level inspector of the Information and Communication Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that at present, there are more than 410,000 identification service enterprises in the mainland, with a registration volume of nearly 500 billion, an increase of nearly eighty percent over the same period last year, with an average daily analysis of 150 million times, and more than 30 million active identification carriers deployed. It has released integrated application guidelines for shipbuilding, petrochemical, electric power, equipment, automotive and other industries, forming 20 typical application scenarios in nine categories, including production quality control, supply chain collaboration, and full life cycle management, and has gradually accelerated its expansion from the field of economic construction to many fields such as safe production, emergency support, and green and low-carbon.

In the industrial Internet identification resolution system with massive data, it mainly includes two parts: identification coding and resolution system. Among them, the identification code is equivalent to the "ID card" or "house number", which gives a globally unique code to each physical entity (such as parts, machines, products, etc.) and each digital object (such as algorithms, process records, and key data) on the industrial Internet. The parsing system queries and unifies the network address and associated information according to the identification code, so as to achieve accurate positioning and provide basic support for cross-system, cross-enterprise, cross-regional supply chain whole-process management, tracking and traceability, network precise collaboration and other applications.

In recent years, the identification and analysis system of the industrial Internet in mainland China has been basically completed from scratch, from small to large, with the stable operation of the country's top nodes, more than 330 secondary nodes online, full coverage of 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country, more than 400,000 service enterprises, and an average of more than 150 million daily resolutions, expanding to 46 industries, gradually becoming a key support for promoting the digital transformation of enterprises and high-quality economic and social development.

The scale of the core industry of the industrial Internet has reached 1.35 trillion yuan, why is "identification" important?

At the beginning of this year, the "Industrial Internet Identification Analysis System "Through" Action Plan (2024-2026)" was released, proposing that in the next three years, in terms of key indicators, the number of service enterprises will exceed 500,000, the application will be expanded to 60 industries, the cumulative number of registrations will exceed 600 billion, and the average daily analysis volume will reach more than 300 million. In terms of key areas, large-scale applications have been initially achieved in the fields of manufacturing, consumer goods industry, green and low-carbon, and safe production.

The Spark Chain Network, which was officially launched in August 2020, has also entered a new stage a few days ago. At the conference, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) released the Spark Strategy, the development strategy of industrial Internet identification.

"The industrialized Internet logo is to give an ID card to the world's things, and it is to realize the interconnection of all things. On this basis, Xinghuo Chain Network will assign an identity to each digital object. Here we are trying to bridge the physical world and the digital space, connecting the two. We assign a full life cycle ID card to every object in the physical world, and we can also assign an ID card to every object in the digital space. Yu Xiaohui, president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, said.

Jin Jian also explained that the Spark strategy is to build China-led digital space interconnection standards, core facilities and service systems at the level of basic interconnection facilities represented by logos, promote the development advantages of China's industry through digitalization, and promote the construction of peer-to-peer, equal and co-governance network economic space. In the future, the Spark strategy will promote the construction of a complete and industry-oriented identification system, promote the large-scale development of China's industrial Internet, and in addition to serving new industrialization, it will also serve the supply chain resilience, green and low-carbon, scientific and technological self-reliance and self-reliance, network security, cross-border data exchange, and regional economic coordinated development and other important national policies.

What is the focus of the construction of the logo?

At present, the construction of the new infrastructure of Spark Chain Network based on the industrial Internet identification analysis system is accelerating, and super nodes have been built in 12 cities such as Xiamen, Chongqing, Shenyang, Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Jinan, and the backbone nodes cover more than 60 cities, exploring and forming a number of typical application scenarios such as digital assets, industrial finance, and judicial evidence preservation.

For the next focus of the construction of the industrial Internet identification analysis system, Wang Peng mentioned three aspects, including strengthening the high-level support of the basic base, deepening the in-depth expansion of key areas, and consolidating the collaborative guarantee of scale development. For example, it is necessary to further enhance the capabilities of the national top nodes, multi-logo compatibility, system monitoring, emergency support, etc., strengthen the adaptation of the identification analysis system and software and hardware such as industrial enterprise information systems, industrial Internet platforms, and industrial APPs, support the integration and innovation of identification analysis and artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, web3 and other technologies, and accelerate the formulation, verification and application promotion of national standards, industry standards, and group standards for identification analysis.

Yu Xiaohui also said that the next step of CAICT will be to build a healthy digital industry ecology from many aspects such as technology, application, business model and international cooperation.

Taking specific innovative measures as an example, "product digital passport (DPP)" is the practice of promoting the logo to the world, Liu Yang, deputy chief engineer of the Institute of Industrial Internet and Internet of Things of the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, introduced that just like we need passports to travel between different countries and regions, product digital passports can describe the supply chain, manufacturing process, logistics and transportation, environmental impact and other information of the product. Academia and industry already have most of the reserve work to carry out product digital passports.

Liu Yang explained three points: the development of "intelligent networked products" needs richer descriptions and more convenient access; from the perspective of global trade, cross-border trade in the context of "digital and real integration" urgently needs a global interconnected product data network; from the perspective of strengthening governance, new technology hotspots such as cross-border data and green and low-carbon need strong technical support for regulatory governance.

Liu Yang said that in the next step, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology will face key industries such as batteries, textiles, steel, electronics, etc., based on the basic principles of interconnection, security and trustworthiness, and international mutual recognition, to promote the construction of product digital passport registration management system, product digital passport industry application scenario exploration, product digital passport international mutual recognition and interoperability coordination and other three key tasks.
