author:cnBeta

Tesla has officially unveiled a performance version of the newly facelifted Model 3 sedan in response to declining demand. Starting at $52,990, the new Model 3 comes with a new active damping system and adaptive suspension for better handling and comfort, a battery range of 296 miles (476.36 km), acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, and a maximum power of 510 horsepower.

Compared to the previous Model 3 Performance, the new version has 32% more peak power, 16% more peak torque, and 5% less drag. Tesla says the new model consumes less energy than the previous generation. This is partly due to the new generation of drives, as well as the rear diffuser and spoiler. The front and rear ends of the car also received a minor facelift, setting it apart from other versions of the newly facelifted Model 3 released last year.

The Model 3 Performance retains the overall design of the recently facelifted model. This means installing ambient light bars, better sound damping and upgraded materials inside the cabin, a handleless steering wheel and a new touchscreen display.

Tesla's launch of the new Model 3 performance comes as the company experienced its worst quarterly deliveries in recent memory, with a 20% drop compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. The impact of a disappointing first quarter will be revealed when Tesla reports after the market closes on Tuesday.

Tesla has announced more than 10% layoffs worldwide, and the layoffs seem to be affecting all corners of the company.

At least at press time, Tuesday's order shows an estimated delivery time for May/June 2024 in North America.
