Germany spent $90 billion to build a railway, and the United States and Japan are vying to build it, so why ask China to help

Today, China, known as an "infrastructure powerhouse", has once again demonstrated its excellent technical level in the field of high-speed rail. Not long ago, there was good news that the domestic EMU train CR450 will be rolled off the assembly line within the year, and this EMU train can reach a speed of 400 kilometers per hour, which can be said to have refreshed the global high-speed rail speed record. Not only that, but just recently, there was also the good news that Germany will spend $90 billion to build a railway, and the United States and Japan want to win this project, but Germany wants to choose China.

For Germany, this high-speed rail construction project is of great significance, but due to the hollowing out of Germany's industry in recent years and high labor costs, Germany, as one of the earliest countries in the world to develop EMUs, now has no ability to build its own high-speed rail project, so it has to find partners on a global scale.

Germany began to develop high-speed rail in 1899, and in 1931, the test speed of high-speed rail reached 230.2 kilometers per hour. However, it is precisely because of this that due to the relatively early development of railways, high-speed railways, and EMU trains in Germany, many of Germany's railways were built decades ago.

As a result, railways in many places have begun to deteriorate, and for safety reasons, Germany can only choose to reduce the speed of trains to a certain extent, which is currently maintained at 160 km/h to 200 km/h. This speed is some distance from the international standard speed of high-speed rail, and it is easy to be delayed.

Train delays are a normal phenomenon, but the rate of train delays in Germany has reached 75.2%, which is a strange thing to say that they are not late. The most important thing is that there is a need to pay compensation for train delays in Germany, and in 2018, Germany paid 53.6 million euros for delays, causing a loss of 300 million euros.

From this point, it can be seen that Germany's high-speed rail construction project is indeed very important to Germany, and it is precisely because of its importance that Germany wants to choose to cooperate with the mainland.

It is worth noting that the United States and Japan are competing to build Germany's high-speed rail construction project, but what people did not expect is that Germany directly bypassed the bidding and chose to cooperate with the mainland.

Although the United States and the West have not been less "decoupling and breaking chains" with the mainland in the international market in recent years, they have also "stigmatized" Chinese companies in many fields. However, the United States and the West themselves are well aware of the mainland's outstanding performance and technological level in the fields of infrastructure construction and manufacturing.

From the perspective of high-speed rail construction alone, although Japan also developed high-speed rail technology very early, and even the Japanese Shinkansen can be said to be the world's earliest high-speed rail project, Japan's high-speed rail construction in the international market is somewhat unsatisfactory. Japan helped India build a high-speed railway, which started in 2017, and now a few years have passed, only 10 kilometers have been completed, and the completion time is still being postponed and delayed.

In comparison, the mainland's high-speed rail operating mileage has reached 42,000 kilometers by 2022, and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway and the China-Laos railway, which are responsible for the construction abroad, have achieved great success. It not only promotes local transportation, but also promotes local economic development.

The most important thing is that the mainland has developed rapidly in high-speed rail technology and can complete the construction of railways under various special geographical conditions, such as Saudi Arabia's "Maimai Railway", which is in the extreme environment of the desert, but the mainland still solves various problems very well.

There is no doubt that with the excellent performance of China's high-speed rail technology, it is not surprising that Germany would choose the mainland for such an important railway construction project. After all, China's high-speed rail technology is excellent, the production capacity is outstanding, and at the same time, the scientific research ability is extremely strong, it can overcome all kinds of difficult terrain, and it also has rich experience.
