On April 23, the 2024 World Book Day and Scholarly Nan'an Reading Exhibition in Nan'an District was held in Chongqing No. 11 Middle School.

Expand your reading space and make good books the most accessible resource

30 years ago, South Shore Education first put forward the concept of regional education development of "Scholarly South Coast", through careful planning, extensive mobilization, and the participation of all members of the school, family and society, "Scholarly" nourishes and delights the children's growth path, so that they can feel happiness in the atmosphere of loving reading, reading good books, and being good at reading.

When the Nan'an District Education Committee released the "Scholarly South Bank Reading Report" on the spot, it was mentioned that Nan'an District conscientiously implemented the requirements of the "National Adolescent Student Reading Action Implementation Plan" and the "Chongqing Adolescent Student Reading Action Implementation Plan", and issued the "Scholarly South Bank Reading Implementation Plan" in 2023.

With the promotion of the activity throughout the district, schools have made full use of the free area to set up book shelves, reading areas, and book corners to expand students' reading space and make good books the most accessible resource for students. At present, more than 200 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in the district have carried out more than 300 "scholarly South Bank reading" activities, driving 1.2 million citizens to participate together 123456.

In order to accurately grasp the situation and needs of the development of big reading, the Nan'an District Education Committee and the Nan'an District Language Committee jointly carried out a reading survey for primary and secondary school (preschool) students, teachers and parents in the district in April this year.

According to the survey data, 33.40% of the respondents read less than 5 books, 30.23% read 5-10 books, and 13.61% read more than 20 books. In terms of reading type preference, literary works (including poetry, prose, drama, etc.) are the most popular, accounting for 77.16%, while popular science works are 52.73%.

"Love reading" has gradually become a habit of teachers, students and parents in Nan'an District. At the event, awards were presented to the representatives who won the "Scholarly Family", "Scholarly Class" and "Scholarly Campus" in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Over the past year, with the promotion of the "Scholarly Nan'an Reading" activity, Nan'an District has been awarded the title of "2023 Chongqing Youth Student Reading Action Outstanding District and County" and selected as the "2023 National Youth Student Reading Action Regional Excellent Case", and Renmin Rongqiao Primary School has been awarded the "Chongqing Scholarly Campus". Nan'an District's "Scholarly Nan'an Reading Series Activities" was awarded the 2023 "Scholarly Chongqing" Outstanding National Reading Promotion Activity.

In order to further promote and deepen the reading culture, Nan'an District continues to optimize reading resources, comprehensively improve the quality of reading spaces such as school libraries, reading corners, book drifting desks, and newspaper kiosks, enrich book equipment, and enrich electronic reading resources through the national smart education reading platform, digital museum, etc., to innovate reading carriers and help students read instantly and everywhere. At the same time, we will enrich the reading curriculum, incorporate reading guidance ability into the teacher training plan, carry out competitions such as reading by famous teachers, teacher-student reading, parent-child reading, and scholarly family evaluation, build a school-family-society collaborative reading mechanism, and jointly build a reading teaching practice base and a reading project school.

Tang Xin, deputy secretary of the Nan'an District Party Committee, said in his speech at the scene that he hoped that the "Scholarly Nan'an Big Reading" activity would enter thousands of households in the form of small hands holding big hands, and that the majority of primary and secondary school students should strive to be the "communicators" of truth, kindness and beauty, tell the story of Nan'an, spread the voice of Nan'an, and build a good image of Nan'an.
