On April 18, China Mobile Bidding and Procurement Network issued the 2024-2025 Intelligent Computing Center Procurement Bidding Announcement, which involves 7,994 AI training servers for special scenarios and 60 Ethernet switches, and is expected to win 5-7 suppliers.
On February 19, 2024, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council held a special promotion meeting on artificial intelligence for central enterprises on "AI empowerment industry renewal". The meeting emphasized the need to consolidate the basic foundation for development, concentrate the main resources on the most needed and advantageous areas, accelerate the construction of a number of intelligent computing centers, further deepen open cooperation, and better play the role of cross-central enterprise collaborative innovation platform.
China Mobile began to build an intelligent computing center as early as 23 years, and at the end of September 2023, it purchased 2,454 AI servers at one time. In January this year, China Mobile tendered for the purchase of 1,250 AI training servers for the experimental network project of the Intelligent Computing Center, so in the first four months of this year, China Mobile purchased a total of 9,246 AI training servers, which was nearly three times higher than last year's procurement scale.
On March 23, 2024, China Unicom also launched the "2024 China Unicom Artificial Intelligence Server Centralized Procurement Project", purchasing 2,503 artificial intelligence servers.
Relevant experts predict that the procurement scale of AI servers in the communications industry may reach tens of thousands in 2024.
