On April 18, the reporter walked into the Huixing Agricultural Planting Demonstration Base of Xiangtou Mountain and saw that Jiabao fruit trees were planted on the hillside, the trunk grew in an umbrella shape, and each branch was hung with purple and black small fruits, like black pearls dotted on the trunk.
Nie Bohui, the person in charge of the base, told reporters that the base covers an area of more than 200 acres and was originally mainly planted with mandarin oranges. Because it is located at the foot of Elephant Head Mountain in Taimei Town, close to the Tropic of Cancer, the geographical environment is pleasant and natural, and the mandarin oranges grown have a good taste, attracting many tourists to come to pick and experience buying. However, mandarin oranges are autumn and winter fruits, and the base has entered a gap period for picking after the Spring Festival. In order to allow tourists to have fruits to pick and taste all year round, in 2023, the base will introduce and plant more than 1,000 Jiabao fruit seedlings. "You can hang fruit three times a year, and a tree can harvest 30-50 catties of Garbo fruit each time, and this year's output is about 5,000 catties. Nie Bohui said happily.
It is reported that Garbo fruit is native to South America, commonly known as "Jiashu grape", because Garbo fruit blossoms and bears fruit on the trunk, the color of the fruit changes from green to red and then to purple, purple and black is a ripe fruit, like a grape hanging on the trunk, so it is called "Garbo fruit". Each tree can bloom and bear fruit several times a year, and the ripe fruit is round, the skin is firm and smooth, the flesh is juicy and translucent, sweet, and has a special taste, which is favored by tourists.
"The water quality here is good, and the quality of the fruit grown. Nie Bohui told reporters that other fruit varieties such as guava will be introduced next, so that all kinds of fruits can be "plum blossom solitaire" here, so that tourists can eat fresh fruits every season and have a better picking experience.
