Enthusiast brand Moondrop has launched its first smartphone, the MIAD 01. MIAD 01 is an abbreviation for Mobile Internet Audio Device, and as you can imagine, it alludes to the fact that this phone puts audio first.
In the teaser image, we can see that the back of the phone is decorated with a white color scheme and stripes, and the camera part is raised, with a dual camera system and brand logo.
We learned about the dual headphone jacks advertised by the phone, and while these two jacks are not visible in the picture, probably because they are located on the top edge of the device that is not visible, we can be sure that there is a 4.4mm and a 3.5mm jack. The 4.4mm jack outputs balanced audio, while the 3.5mm jack is a single-ended output and supports microphones.
The only thing visible in the picture is the power and volume buttons on the right side of the phone, which are decorated in orange to echo the other orange highlights on the phone. The sides of the phone look flat, but the corners are sharp.
MIAD 01 was first exposed back in February of this year, when a smartphone category popped up on the Moondrop website. At the time of writing, nothing has changed on the page, except for the words depicting the name of MIAD 01 and the logo to be released soon. We expect the page to be updated with new teaser images soon.
Moondrop is a Chinese audio brand known for producing IEMs and other audio products. More recently, the company has started producing mechanical keyboards with integrated audiophile-grade audio output. The MIAD 01 also seems to be one such audio-first product. It's a pretty big leap from the IEM and keyboard, though, but we'll just have to wait for the company to release more details about this device.
