According to the Guangdong Foshan City Search and Rescue Center, on the evening of April 22, the anti-collision pier of the Jiujiang Bridge in Foshan, Guangdong Province was collided by the ship, and the relevant departments rushed to the scene as soon as possible to deal with it.

According to the Foshan News Media Center, the accident temporary command immediately invited experts to conduct a preliminary appraisal of the G240 National Highway Jiujiang Bridge, and the main structure was not significantly damaged, but the bridge crash pier had scratch marks, and the bridge safety needed to be further identified.
As of 6 o'clock on April 23, the public security departments of Foshan and Jiangmen, as well as the provincial and municipal maritime departments, dispatched more than 300 cadres and maritime rescue personnel to search and rescue the missing people. The Blue Sky Rescue Team also sent professional team members to the scene with equipment to assist in the rescue. At the moment, the rescue operation is still ongoing.
According to public information, Foshan Jiujiang Bridge is a bridge across the Xijiang River, located between Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, and Jiezhou, Heshan City, Jiangmen City, with a total length of 1,682 meters. Construction started in September 1985 and was officially completed and opened to traffic in June 1988.
It is worth mentioning that on June 15, 2007, a ship collided with the bridge collapse accident on the Jiujiang Bridge in Foshan, Guangdong, the bridge collapsed 200 meters, and 4 cars and 2 construction workers on the bridge fell into the river, causing a total of 8 deaths. After the incident, Shi Guide, the captain of the ship, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for the crime of causing a traffic accident.
