Prince Guo bowed when he sat in the palace, and I was deeply disturbed...... He is the son of Emperor Zuren of the Holy Saint, the younger brother of Emperor Daxing, and Yu Zhen is his uncle. How can you always pray before me if you are very respectful......
The meaning of this sentence is very simple, you are an uncle, I am a nephew, and you don't have to kneel to me according to seniority. Yunli was very relieved to hear this, and worked diligently and hard in the days to come to repay his nephew's attention.
We all know that the environment can change a person, not only in the outward behavior, but also in the unconscious mind. When you enjoy something for a long time, you think that it is the way it should be, and forget the essence of the thing.
The emperors in history were unkind, and the things they rewarded must be clearly distinguished, which can be wanted, which cannot be wanted, which can be enjoyed if they want, and which cannot be enjoyed if they want......

I shouldn't have given up my ritual because of illness

Enjoying such treatment for a long time makes it customary to think that the family relationship with the emperor is better than the relationship between the monarch and the minister, and he is not sure of the balance between the monarch and the minister in doing things.
In 1737, Qianlong discussed important matters with many ministers, but Yunli was late for such an important meeting.
If you are late to admit your mistake and explain the reason, it may pass, but for some reason Yunli neither admitted her mistake nor explained the reason, and sat on the chair after entering the door, not caring about Emperor Qianlong's angry expression at all.
Qianlong called himself a "perfect old man", but his heart was extremely narrow-minded and self-proclaiming, and when he saw his uncle disrespecting him so much, he immediately reprimanded him and accused him of not understanding the etiquette of the monarch and the minister.
At this time, Yunli knew that he had made a big mistake, and the next day he wrote a letter to Qianlong with shame, denouncing what he had done and not knowing how to measure, but he did not get forgiveness from the other party.
No matter what outstanding achievements Yunli made, Qianlong turned a blind eye, and the former slowly knew what to do, and soon resigned from all positions and powers on the grounds of physical discomfort, Qianlong did not retain the slightest, and this uncle-nephew relationship ended.
After Yunli resigned, he retired to his home, and his main work was to write books, during which he also wrote a famous "Emperor Shizongxian's Edict", but it still failed to attract the attention of Emperor Qianlong.
Time came to the third year of Qianlong, Yunli's condition worsened and there was no cure, and finally died at home, and when he was dying, he regretted and said to his wife:
"Everything starts because of the number of rites, and I shouldn't have wasted them because of illness. ”
During the feudal society, the class concept was very serious, the monarch was the king, the minister was the minister, and the ceremony should not be abolished because of illness at any time. The emperor bestowed honors on his courtiers to show his love for them, but the courtiers had to know how to make reasonable trade-offs and refuse at the right time.
To put it simply, the rewards that the emperor should give have been given, but I (the courtiers) don't want it, even if it is against my will, I must do it, so as to maintain the emperor's face.
It is not difficult to see from Yunli's sentence that the hidden danger between him and Qianlong was doomed when "the seniors are very respectful, how can they often worship before me", but it is a pity that it is too late for him to really understand this truth.
Looking back on the past, if Yunli had chosen to reasonably refuse when Emperor Qianlong bestowed him, or if he consciously knelt down after enjoying it for a while, he would inevitably leave a good impression on his nephew, and even if he was late at the conference, there would be no room for turnaround.
In his later years, Yunli was worried about Qianlong's attitude towards him, which made him not eat and sleep well, and finally died of illness at the age of 42.
Perhaps Emperor Qianlong also realized that his approach to this uncle was a bit excessive, so he asked his own son Yonghuang, the eldest brother, to be ordered to pass on filial piety (Yunli has no son), and later gave Yinli a sacrifice, called "Yi", and was buried in Shangyue Village, Yizhou.
At the same time, in order to continue the bloodline for his uncle, he succeeded his younger brother Hongyi under his name and took the title of Prince Heshuo. The emperor was wrong and did not admit it publicly, which was also the last thing Qianlong could do for his uncle.
