In October 1921, excavations at the Yangshao site in Shichi County, Henan Province, opened the prelude to modern Chinese archaeology. Since the birth of Chinese archaeology, Chinese archaeologists have shouldered the heavy responsibility of excavating, interpreting and inheriting Chinese civilization, as well as enhancing national self-confidence. A series of major archaeological discoveries they have made have provided a large number of first-hand archaeological materials for the restoration of the origin, formation and development process of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of modern archaeology in China, and the event, jointly organized by the School of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of Zhengzhou University, the Satellite Channel of Henan Radio and Television Station, and the International Channel of Henan Radio and Television Station, is also part of the series of cultural content launched by Henan Satellite TV to pay tribute to archaeology.
This documentary is the first to collect a large number of detailed site visit materials in Chinese Paleolithic archaeology with interviews with well-known domestic experts, and through vivid, aesthetic and visual video records, it explains the process of endless development of the local population and culture of modern people in East Asia. At the same time, taking the exploration process and archaeological achievements of Chinese archaeologists on the origin of modern humans in East Asia as the core, from the perspectives of ancient human fossil characteristics, molecular biology, stone tool technology, fire relics, culture and art, food types, etc., the phenomenon of cultural and genetic exchanges with the outside world is also comprehensively discussed. In particular, the breakthrough achievements made by Zhengzhou in confirming the local continuous evolution and gene exchange theory of East Asian modern people have filled the gap in the key period of Paleolithic culture in East Asia, and generally reflect the evolutionary characteristics of "local continuous evolution with hybridization" of East Asian modern people.
It is understood that the documentary "Footprints" has a total of 5 episodes, each episode is about 40 minutes long, and will meet with the audience on October 26 at the Satellite Channel of Henan Radio and Television Station and the International Channel of Henan Radio and Television Station.
