1. The amorous male protagonist
It is not unusual for the male protagonist in martial arts stories to be amorous, after all, only such a character can make them have love-hate entanglements with many women, and then involve all kinds of twists and turns and bizarre stories.

Anyone who has read "Dragon Babu" knows that Duan Yu's favorite woman should be Wang Yuyan, how did she become an old woman?
In fact, Jin Yong made a certain supplement to the story of Duan Yu's infatuation with Wang Yuyan in the new revised version, and he even modified the ending of the two.
In the old version, Wang Yuyan switched to Duan Yu's arms after the Xixia horse election, he came together with Duan Yu in the dry well, everything seems to be very beautiful, but it is obvious that readers do not recognize this kind of love, she always has a sense of treating Duan Yu as a spare tire, who would want this kind of charity love?

So is the story of "Dragon Babu" exciting?
Of course, even if the fairy sister never appears, no matter how absurd Duan Yu's love is, it will not affect the book to be praised on the altar at all, because its core plot is not the love between men and women, but "asking but not getting".
Why did Jin Yong give this work the name of "Tianlong Babu"? The answer is very simple, he said in the opening commentary: "These eight kinds of Shinto spirits of Tianlong Babu have their own peculiar personalities and supernatural powers, and although they are sentient beings outside the human world, they also have earthly joys and sorrows. There are no Shinto spirits in this novel, but this Buddhist scripture term is borrowed to symbolize some of the worldly characters. ”
To put it bluntly, what he wants to express is actually "all living beings are suffering", and there are inevitably some things in everyone's life that they can't ask for.
Duan Yu fell in love with an old woman he had never met, which seems absurd, but in fact, it is also expounding the truth of "can't ask for it", even if he is a prince and nobleman, he will have earthly suffering.
And the other two protagonists in the book also have something they can't ask for.
Xiao Feng wanted to be a Han Chinese, and he also wanted to go to Yanmen Pass with Ah Zhu to live the ordinary days of herding horses and sheep, but he was a Khitan and killed Ah Zhu with his own hands.

As for Xuzhu, on the surface, he did come together with the Menggu he thought about, but Jin Yong said in the last chapter of the original book that Xuzhu's biggest wish in his heart was actually to be a monk and return to Buddhism, after all, he repeatedly broke the vows not because he had the intention to break the vows, but because he was forced to do so.
