Flag Presentation Ceremony of the "Chinese Bridge" Spring Camp for Young Students of GCC Countries
On April 19, the launching ceremony of the 2024 "International Chinese Day" and the opening ceremony of the "Chinese Bridge" Spring Camp for young students from GCC countries were held at the Wutong Hall of Beijing Language and Culture University. On the same day, the "International Chinese Education Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards (11 Language Editions)" was released.
More than 300 people attended the event, including diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, Vietnam, Laos and other countries, representatives of international language and cultural institutions such as Alliance Française and Instituto Cervantes, representatives of relevant ministries and commissions, universities, social organizations and media, as well as teachers and students of the "Chinese Bridge" Spring Camp for young students from GCC countries.
Liu Limin, President of China Education Association for International Exchange and Chairman of the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in International Chinese Education, pointed out in his keynote speech that language is a tool for communication, a carrier of culture, a key to understanding a country, and a bridge for mutual learning among civilizations. Since the "International Chinese Day" was held in 2020, relevant parties at home and abroad have cooperated in organizing more than 3,000 activities and participated in more than 800 million people, opening a new window for people from all over the world to understand China and experience Chinese culture, and building a new platform for promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing understanding between China and foreign countries.
Liu Limin said that facing the future, China will continue to work with other countries to vigorously promote the sustainable and high-quality development of international Chinese education. Accurately meet needs, strengthen integrity and innovation, and strive to provide people around the world with a better Chinese learning experience; expand service functions, strengthen integrated development, and bring tangible benefits to the economic and social development of all countries; build an exchange platform, strengthen mutual learning among civilizations, and make new and greater contributions to the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative, the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and the construction of a better world.
Abdulrahman AlHarbi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to China, said that Saudi Arabia-China relations continue to develop healthily, the two countries are strategic partners of each other, and the alignment of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 with China's Belt and Road Initiative has achieved rich results. Today, through the "Chinese Bridge" exchange program, students from Saudi Arabia and GCC countries will gather in Beijing, and they will learn about a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China. At the ceremony, Chinese and foreign guests witnessed the release of the latest achievements in the field of international Chinese education standard construction and digital construction. The International Chinese Education Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards (11 Language Editions) includes Korean, Japanese, English, Arabic, Thai, Spanish, French, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Portuguese and other versions, providing more scientific, systematic and effective guidance to meet the needs of localized international Chinese teaching in various countries. The International Chinese Education Chinese Reading Grading Standards provide scientific and standardized R&D standards for graded reader developers, and provide guidance for reading groups such as Chinese learners and readers around the world.
