3CR2W8V steel, this die-casting die steel, is a representative steel grade of tungsten-based high heat strengthened die steel. The alloying element is mainly tungsten, which has a mass fraction of up to 8%. The quenching temperature is 1050-1200 °C, and the hardness is HRC49-56.550 °C. When tempered, secondary hardening occurs. After isothermal quenching at 350°C and 45°C, high impact toughness and hardness can be obtained. Due to the poor ability to resist cold and heat fatigue, it is easy to have cold and heat fatigue when working under quenching hot and cold conditions, so it is not suitable to work under quenching and extremely hot conditions. However, due to its high tempering resistance, it is still used as a hot work die steel with high thermal strength in many hot working fields.

The steel is suitable for making hot work molds, such as upsetting, forging, etc., and the molds have a long service life.

After proper heat treatment, in addition to certain toughness and thermal fatigue resistance, it also has comprehensive properties such as high hardness, high strength, good wear resistance, high temperature strength, and good tempering stability. Recommended quenching specification: quenching temperature 1080-1120 °C, quenching hardness HRC61-63 when cooling to oil temperature 20-60 °C. The steel also has good hot working properties and a wide range of processing temperatures, which is suitable for the manufacture of hot extrusion dies, hot forging dies, warm forging dies and cold heading dies with good toughness.
