Blinken has had a showdown, and the G7 has once again set its sights on the Taiwan Strait. What are the specific ways in which China has taken countermeasures?
Recently, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the European Union held a meeting in Capri, Italy, after which US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a showdown on China, noting that this G7 foreign ministers' meeting "discussed the need for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea and the Korean Peninsula, as well as our efforts to strengthen and reshape relations in the region." In other words, the G7 has set its sights on the Taiwan Strait. It is understood that the G7 foreign ministers' meeting also issued a joint statement, which not only pretended to say that "peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are 'indispensable for the security and prosperity of the entire international community', and called for the peaceful settlement of cross-strait issues." At the same time, the statement also stressed that the G7 countries "support Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations, including the World Health Assembly and the World Health Organization's technical meetings." The G7 foreign ministers' meeting once again hyped up China-related issues, talked vainly about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, and made irresponsible remarks about the South China Sea issue.
Recently, the United States has been making a series of provocative moves on Taiwan-related issues, and a few days ago, a P-8A antisubmarine patrol plane of the US military sailed through the Taiwan Strait and openly hyped it up. In addition, not long ago, Taiwan's "Navy Commander" Tang Hua visited the United States. Foreign media believe that Tang Hua's visit to the United States this time is part of the "joint island defense concept" of the United States, because the United States is interested in coordinating with Japan, the Philippines, and the Taiwan region to confront the PLA in the "first island chain". There are also Taiwan media sources pointing out that the Taiwan military is expected to start installing the first batch of 38 M1A2T tanks by the end of this year. Earlier, the Taiwan Army spent NT$40.5 billion to purchase 108 M1A2T main battle tanks, known as the "strongest on the surface," from the US military. Obviously, the US military's arms sales to Taiwan have not stopped. In response to the above-mentioned provocative acts of the US side related to Taiwan, our position is very clear, and any attempt to contain China is nothing more than wishful thinking. The Chinese People's Liberation Army is ready to fight at all times and can fight at any time, and will thwart any interference by external forces and smash any "Taiwan independence" separatist plot with a fighting posture of "always being ready."
Earlier, during a video call with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun clearly stressed that the Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests, and China's core interests must not be damaged. The Chinese People's Liberation Army will never let anything go wrong with all "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external connivance and support. In addition to warnings, China's other countermeasures have not stopped in actual actions. Not long ago, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs clearly announced that it would take countermeasures against the US General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Corporation and the General Dynamics Land Systems Corporation, and the reason for this is that these two companies sell weapons to China's Taiwan region, and the US General Dynamics Land Systems Corporation is the manufacturer of the M1A2T main battle tank.
As for the G7 joint attack on China and blatant interference in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, China's countermeasures will inevitably follow, and there are many countermeasures that China may take, including increasing tariffs and imposing import bans, product boycotts and inspections on G7 importers, and imposing export restrictions on "key commodities" such as rare earth materials, clean energy, and bulk commodities. Some outside analysts believe that if China retaliates against the G7, G7 members may lose hundreds of billions of dollars in trade and investment with China. According to relevant data, in terms of imports, G7 members rely on more than 477 billion US dollars of Chinese mainland goods; in terms of investment, G7 members have at least 460 billion US dollars of direct investment assets in China. Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin had explicitly urged the G7 that since the G7 countries have pledged to adhere to the one-China policy, they should keep their word and implement the "one-China" commitment to the letter.
