Why is it easy to write, but hard to write?

author:Writer and publisher Yao Maodun

Recently, many readers and fans have complained to me that they love writing and want to go further on the road of writing and achieve certain results. But what is puzzling is that writing is so strange, it seems very simple, and when you actually write it, you find it difficult.

Indeed, there seems to be no threshold for writing, and there is no academic qualification, and anyone can write. But in fact, there is still a certain degree of difficulty, after all, it will involve some basic knowledge and necessary writing skills.

Why is it easy to write, but hard to write?

From my more than 20 years of creative experience, there are at least 6 reasons why many people find it extremely difficult to write.

First, there is no clear idea

In general, writing requires clarity of thought, that is, you need to know what to write, why to write, who to write for, how to organize the content, and how to express it. If you don't have a clear idea, your mind will go blank and you won't be able to put pen to paper.

Second, lack of basic writing skills

Writing is a skill that is not mysterious, but it encompasses the basics of vocabulary, grammar, structure, and more. If these foundations are not solid enough, when you actually write, you will feel that there are few words and sentences, words do not reach the meaning or the logic is confused, and you will naturally find it difficult to write.

Third, lack of imagination

Any writing requires a certain amount of imagination, especially literary creation, such as poetry, prose and other genres, if there is a lack of imagination, what is written will appear pale and powerless, without beauty, and unable to move people. Even business writing requires the necessary imagination.

Fourth, the knowledge reserve is insufficient

Whether it's writing an article or a book, it requires a lot of knowledge. If you don't have enough reserves, you won't be able to pull the relevant knowledge from your mind when writing, and it will be difficult to write complete and beautiful content. As I said before, to write a book, you need to read at least dozens of books, and then you have to digest and absorb the books you have read, and then turn them into knowledge for your own use.

Fifth, bad writing habits

Writers who are gifted or trained have good habits. For example, I write anytime and anywhere, and I write on a wide range of topics. If you don't train in your daily life and don't develop some good habits, it will become very difficult to write.

Sixth, excessive psychological pressure

Writing is a personal thing, and at the same time there is no such thing as a standard, and different people give completely different opinions on whether the work is good or not, or even very different.

Therefore, some people are always worried that they will not write well, they are ashamed to show it to others, they are afraid of being criticized by others, and many of their lives die before they have even begun, which will affect the quality and fluency of their writing.

To sum up, while writing may seem simple, it actually requires a variety of skills and cognition. If you want to improve your writing, it is advisable to practice and study to gradually master some basic skills. At the same time, you also need to maintain a positive attitude and patience, overcome some difficulties and challenges, and work hard for a long time, you will gradually get rich rewards!
