It is reported that the new car will be launched with two seat layouts of 6-seater and 7-seater, and will be powered by a 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine + 48V mild hybrid power and PHEV plug-in hybrid power combination, and the new car will compete directly with luxury models such as BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in the future.
Externally, the all-new European version of the Mazda CX-80 can be seen as a long-wheelbase version of the Mazda CX-60, and the new car shares many parts of the body, such as the entire front styling is exactly the same as the CX-60, but the new car has a longer wheelbase and longer rear suspension, making the whole car look very similar to the Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-90 launched in the North American market.
However, in comparison, the new European version of the Mazda CX-80 has a longer rear door design, and it also comes with a third side window, which is also embellished with thicker chrome trim strips, giving it a more refined overall look. In addition, the taillights are also in line with the Mazda CX-60, with a narrow shape that is more recognizable when lit, but the tailgate profile and bumper have been redesigned to give the rear a fuller look.
In terms of body size, the new European version of the Mazda CX-80 is nearly 5,000mm long and has a wheelbase of more than 3,000mm, which is 255mm and 130mm longer than the Mazda CX-60's 4,745mm long and 2,870mm wheelbase, respectively. However, compared to the 5121mm length and 3119mm wheelbase of the US-spec CX-70 and CX-90, the length and wheelbase are not dominant.
Inside, the biggest highlight of the all-new European version of the Mazda CX-80 is the introduction of two seating layouts, 6-seater and 7-seater, of which the second-row seats can be configured with three standard seats or two executive chairs, as well as a center console and an aisle to the third row. The two seats in the third row can be fully folded flat to further expand the cargo space.
In addition, the center console of the new car follows the design of the Mazda CX-60, adopts a new interior center console architecture and the design of the new three-spoke steering wheel, is equipped with an LCD screen digital instrument and a 12.3-inch central control large-size floating screen configuration, and is equipped with Mazda's latest car machine system, which can support Apple Carplay, Android Auto and other functions, further creating a sense of technology in the car.
Finally, in terms of power, the new European version of the Mazda CX-80 will be equipped with a 3.3-liter inline-six diesel engine + 48V mild hybrid power and PHEV plug-in hybrid powertrain, of which the 3.3-liter inline-six diesel engine has a maximum horsepower of 251 hp and a peak torque of 550Nm, while the new car is also mated to an 8-speed automatic manual transmission with AWD four-wheel drive.
The PHEV variant is powered by a 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine with an electric motor that produces 323 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides an all-electric range of around 60 km.
