Today we continue our review of the EDC flashlight: the new Baton 3 PRO Limited Edition from Olight. The Baton "Conductor" 3 PRO seems to have been released the year before last, but at the time, I felt that the appearance and function overlapped with the existing Samurai mini and Explorer 3 PRO, so I didn't consider buying it. Recently, I saw that Aolei has newly launched this sports car limited edition, and I really like the bright color scheme:

Let's take a look at the exterior details of the flashlight. If the button switch is on the front, the side that says the Baton 3 Pro model is on the right side, and the unique code of each flashlight is printed below the model, mine is 3498. The barrel body has blue, orange, and black 3 colors, which looks like a contrasting color, but in fact it is inspired by a sports car, it should be a blue sports car, and the orange part is the latte or waistline that runs through the entire body of the sports car, I don't know which sports car the prototype is, it seems that I have seen a blue Lamborghini with orange latte art before:
The two sides of the flashlight are completely symmetrical, but the text printed is different, and the left side is printed with the Olight LOGO. The barrel body is made of aviation aluminum, the blue and orange oxide texture is extremely good, and it feels better than the paint process, just look at the reflection on it, so that I have to carefully put it in the cabinet after every play:
The front switch is slightly recessed downward, which can reduce the probability of false touches when pressed on the side. In the center of the button is an LED indicator to indicate the power status, the power level is normal and the green light is on, and the red light is on when it is time to charge:

The barrel body is shorter than most of the 18650 small straight tubes on the market, the total length is 101mm, the diameter is 23mm, the net weight is 103 grams, and the portability is very good, but I think many friends who buy this limited edition are estimated to be as reluctant to take it out as I am. The flashlight has IPX8 waterproof ability, and it will not enter the water if soaked in water for a short time:
Then there is a two-way grip clip, which can be clamped in both directions, and can be clipped to the backpack strap or trouser pocket:
The clamp can be removed, but the clamp also has the effect of anti-rolling, and there is no anti-roll function after removal. When disassembling and replacing the battery, it is recommended to put a layer of plastic bag between the clamp and the barrel to avoid grinding the barrel body:
The limited edition is the same as the ordinary version, it is a Lumin Nax SST40 lamp bead, and the embedded pressure ring is printed with CRI.70 to indicate the color rendering index of 70, and the relative color temperature of CCT is 5000-5500K, which is a cool white light. The limited edition has two color temperature versions, cool white and medium white, and I personally prefer cool white, which looks brighter visually:
The tail is still the signature magnetic charging of Aolei, in addition to charging, the tail can also be directly sucked on the steel surface:
I have seen some friends who don't like this kind of magnetic charging, the main reason is that there is only one magnetic charger, and it is inconvenient to charge it when you put it at home or outside. But for users like me who have more than two Aolei flashlights, it can be said that it is quite convenient, usually put the flashlight on it and you can charge it, no need to plug in the wire, take the battery, put one at home, put a backup in the car, and you can easily replenish the power at any time:
The attached L-shaped magnetic bracket is also a more practical accessory, which can be used as a fixed lamp by adsorbing the flashlight on the wall or other places, for example, I pasted one on the multi-layer storage box, and you can put the flashlight on it as a lighting lamp at any time in the future, and other Aolei flashlights can also be used:
The barrel body and tail cover are integrated, and when you unscrew the barrel, you can see that a 18650 lithium battery with a capacity of 3200mAH with a protection plate is used:
The battery is still a 18650 battery of the same level as the positive and negative of the special Aorlei, and I have tried to put it in with ordinary batteries that cannot be used, but it can be compatible with the same type of battery of other Aorlei brands, and I have tried to use the battery of the samurai mini before I can use it. Actually, it's not a big problem, and the samurai mini and explorer PRO that I usually use almost never disassemble and change the battery.
The back cover, lamp head springs, and contacts are gold-plated, and there is no lanyard mouth on the back cover, and the lanyard mouth is a small hole in the clamp:
The appearance of the flashlight is introduced here, in short, this limited edition flashlight is excellent in terms of design and workmanship, and you have to put it with other collections without a sense of disobedience, giving people the feeling of exquisiteness at first glance.
I tried the irradiation effect. First, I recorded a GIF animation to demonstrate the brightness comparison of each level. In order, it is 15 lumens in the low bright file, 120 lumens in the medium bright file, 600 lumens in the high bright file, and 1500 lumens in the extremely bright file. The GIF animation color is compressed, please see the picture below for the actual light color. By the way, I also like the moonlight file of 0.5 lumens, you must know that the moonlight file of many flashlights is more than 1 lumen, and the 0.5 file is rare, and it can continue to irradiate for about 4 months on a single charge:
The light of Baton 3 PRO belongs to a large floodlight, the paving effect is particularly good, there is no dazzling light spot when shining on the road, the light angle can reach about 170 degrees by my visual inspection, and the light color is not obvious blue and green:
Due to the shallow light cup and the TIR lens, the flashlight is positioned as a flood flashlight, but it still has a 175-meter illumination distance at 1500 lumens in the extreme brightness mode, and the flood light can also illuminate a large area in front of it:
The gear switching method is a common one-click switch flashlight, long press to switch gears, and three-click flash, which is very reasonable and convenient to use:
Although 1500 lumens is not as good as the high-burst flashlight that often costs tens of thousands of lumens, it is actually enough to turn on 600 lumens for normal night walking and commuting.
Aolei flashlights have truthfully announced the downshift situation and actual battery life on the product introduction and packaging, but I still use the illuminance meter to measure it more safely. Turn on the 1500 lumens extreme bright gear when fully charged, you can see that the extreme bright gear is a direct drive like other flashlights, and it will be reduced to a high bright gear after 2 minutes and a constant current drive is used, which is exactly the same as advertised. 600 lumens high brightness can be maintained almost the whole process of constant brightness, walking at night is enough, with an emergency or a set of soft light cover to open 120 lumens medium bright gear as a tent light or something, the medium bright gear battery life can reach 17 hours, many camping lights are one or two hundred lumens.
The summary is that in addition to the battery is dedicated, the price of EDC flashlight is more expensive than ordinary flashlight, it is an advantage, the appearance color of the limited edition is the biggest highlight and selling point, it is very suitable for enthusiast collection; aside from the appearance, the performance of the flashlight is also very good and very practical, but I said before that this kind of flashlight should be less people to use outside, most of them are bought to play with the collection.
