In recent years, Li Ruipen of the Huodi Villager Group of Yingdi Village, Jili Town, Daguan County, has led the local villagers to start from bamboo seedlings, scientific seed collection, scientific seedling, scientific planting, and scientific management, so that bamboo has become a "ticket" and a barren mountain has become a "golden mountain".
The highest altitude of Yingdi Village is 2,064 meters, and there are 345 households and 1,493 people in the village. In the past few years, due to various reasons such as inconvenient transportation, low crop output value, and lack of industrial support, almost all young and middle-aged people in the village chose to go out to work and earn little income to support their families. In 2017, as a party member, Li Ruipen resolutely took out his savings for many years and established the Daguan County Ruixing Farming and Breeding Farmers Professional Cooperative in the village, leading the villagers to try to plant gastrodia together. In this year, Li Ruipen went to the wooden pole to pick bamboo shoots, and since then he has formed an indissoluble bond with the bamboo industry.
"We went to the old forest above Zhangjiapo in Xiangyang to hunt bamboo shoots, and it took more than an hour to climb the slope, which was quite tiring. We thought if we could plant all the bamboo seeds in our own forests, so that we wouldn't have to work hard to hunt bamboo shoots elsewhere. ”
As soon as he said it, Li Ruipen and several partners of the cooperative planned to collect bamboo seeds and plant bamboo.
Because the seeds are about the same size as rice grains, the locals call them "bamboo rice". In the past, some people in the village had used bamboo rice to grow some seeds, but they were unsuccessful, but despite this, they decided to try it themselves.
In 2019, after a visit, Li Ruipen and his partners found a bamboo rice collection point, and set up a shed in the mountains to wait for the bamboo rice to be picked in time when it matured. During this period, Professor Dong Wenyuan of Southwest Forestry University went to the countryside to investigate and came to their bamboo rice collection point. Professor Dong inquired about their situation, and informed him of his identity and the current progress of sexual reproduction, and left his phone number and WeChat.
Taking advantage of the efforts of the Daguan County Party Committee and the county government to build millions of acres of bamboo, Li Ruipen's cooperative collected a large number of bamboo and rice, led its members to build a bamboo nursery base, and began scientific seedling cultivation under the guidance of Professor Dong Wenyuan.
"I didn't understand it at first. In the process of packing nutrition bags and so on, I consulted Professor Dong by phone or WeChat. Professor Dong gave me guidance on what to do in each link, and then I groped for the cultivation of bamboo seedlings. Li Ruipen said that under the guidance of Professor Dong, the cooperative has cultivated more than 300,000 container seedlings of bamboo and square bamboo, which not only ensures the planting demand of the village, but also provides high-quality bamboo seedlings for other villages in the county.
Bamboo seedlings were cultivated, followed by planting. Yingdi Village in the way of "party branch + village collective company + cooperative + farmer" to transfer 3,000 acres of barren mountain woodland to establish a bamboo planting base, and then Li Ruipen as the representative of the party members to lead the villagers to develop bamboo planting, each villager group to create 3-5 demonstration models, the village has built a total of more than 30 party member demonstration households. Ruixing Farming and Breeding Farmer Cooperative has driven a total of 275 rural households, including 112 poverty alleviation households and 30 households in the third category.
"Professor Dong, as long as they carry out training on wooden poles, they call me, and all of our cooperatives go to learn. It is not only necessary to do a good job in our own family, but also to drive the common people together, and our village alone is more than 10,000 acres of bamboo. Li Ruipen said that the development of the bamboo industry in Yingdi Village is inseparable from Professor Dong Wenyuan's care and guidance, from the initial seed collection, nutrition bags, point planting, seedling raising to the later stage of bamboo seedling transplanting, bamboo forest management and bamboo shoot harvesting, etc., Professor Dong has poured a lot of effort.
It is understood that from 2019 to the present, Li Ruipen has led the Ruixing Cooperative and the majority of villagers to implement 80% of the village's bamboo industry project afforestation. Over the past few years, the cooperative has paid more than 300 yuan to the villagers for seedlings, bamboo planting, management and other labor remunerations, bringing more than 100,000 yuan to the village collective economy. In 2019, the cooperative was recognized as an "employment assistance workshop" by Daguan County, and in December 2020, it was recognized as a provincial demonstration society.
"In our mountainous areas, the only way out is to grow bamboo well. Watching the bamboo rice slowly grow into a bamboo forest all over the mountains under the infiltration of hard sweat, Li Ruipen was very down-to-earth.
