Although the MPV model is more widely used, due to parking, control and car cost and other reasons, it is generally not the first choice for home use in China, and is more commercial, so the overall sales of this model are not large, and it is a niche market segment.
In the era of fuel vehicles, the top few MPV sales are basically dominated by brands such as Buick, Honda and Toyota. With the rise of domestic cars, the market pattern has also undergone great changes. Recently, China Automotive Digital Research Institute released the market data of MPV models in the first quarter of this year, let's take a look at the overall sales and ranking in the first quarter of this year (figure below).
Since the launch of the DENZA brand, this MPV has been selling well and has gradually occupied a leading position in the market. The price of this car is between 330,000 and 390,000 yuan, which is not cheap compared with Buick, Toyota and other brands.
If you mention MPV models, it is estimated that the first thing that comes to most people's minds is Buick GL8, this car is too classic and timeless. Good reputation, huge market share, and high cost performance have allowed GL8 to occupy the top three positions in the market segment for a long time. At present, the guide price of this car is between 250,000 and 350,000, and there is a discount range of 30,000-50,000 at the dealer level.
Toyota Sena is also an old brand, and has been working hard in the MPV field since its birth in 1997, but due to the slightly expensive price, it has not been the opponent of GL8 and Odyssey in the past few years. In the past two years, with the increase in domestic demand for high-quality MPVs, the sales of Sena have climbed. The current guide price is between 310,000 and 370,000, and there will be a discount of 10,000 to 30,000 yuan on the dealers' side. It can be said that Sena and Denza are in direct competition, but they are obviously inferior to each other, not so much that BYD defeated Toyota, but that new energy defeated traditional oil vehicles.
I have to say that Trumpchi's two MPVs are good in appearance, and they can meet the needs of most customers in terms of performance and function, and the materials are also very conscientious. The guide price of M8 is between 220,000 and 290,000, which coincides with GL8 in many ranges, and GAC can occupy the fourth and fifth positions, indicating that Trumpchi is indeed unique, and has also gained market recognition and sales.
Unexpectedly, the Ideal MEGA, nicknamed the "coffin car" by car enthusiasts, ranked eighth, and sold more than 3,200 new cars in just one month after its launch. It is estimated that people who ridicule this car generally do not consider buying an MPV, while those who really buy a MEGA pay more attention to features and luxury attributes. It seems that there is still a good market space for luxury MPVs of more than 500,000 yuan, and Li Auto's control of market demand is still in place.
Honda's Odyssey fell far behind, finishing directly outside the top ten, which was a top three car a few years ago. I feel that Trumpchi has the greatest impact on Odyssey, and there is little difference between the two models in terms of price, and even the dealer price of Odyssey will be even lower, but it is still robbed of a lot of market share by Trumpchi. Not only the Odyssey, but most of Honda's models have not sold well this year, and the sales of its main B-segment car Accord fell by 70% year-on-year in March this year.
