The adjustment of the M503 route and its connection line is conducive to meeting the development needs of air transport in the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and the southeast coastal areas, ensuring flight safety and improving the normality of flights.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that after the cancellation of the flight bias measures on the M503 route, the Civil Aviation Administration of China launched the M503 route connecting route from west to east, which improved the efficiency of airspace operation, helped alleviate the pressure on the growth of flights in relevant areas, ensured flight safety, and reduced flight delays, which was beneficial to compatriots on both sides of the strait. Since the cancellation of flight bias on the M503 route, the overall operation has been safe and stable, effectively improving the operation of cross-strait flights, and providing more convenience for cross-strait personnel exchanges.
In fact, since February 1, the mainland has canceled the flight bias measures of the M503 route, but it has not started the operation of the W122 and W123 connecting routes, leaving enough time for the Taiwan authorities. However, the Taiwan authorities expressed "strong protest" at the time, claiming that the move "undermined peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait." Moreover, the mainland's failure to communicate with the Taiwan authorities when opening the relevant air routes is "disrespectful to Taiwan" and demands that the mainland immediately stop the relevant decision, otherwise the mainland will "bear serious consequences." In addition, the Taiwan authorities also retaliated against the mainland before the Spring Festival, announcing a ban on Taiwan tour groups going to the mainland.
Judging from the reaction of the Taiwan authorities in the future, the DPP authorities did not appreciate the mainland's "concessions" at all, and Lai Qingde refused to give up the "Taiwan independence" party program and appointed a number of "Taiwan independence" diehards to important posts. The mainland can only issue a public announcement to show the mainland's attitude with concrete actions, and will no longer make concessions to Taiwan, and the boundary of the so-called "middle line of the strait" has been further erased.
The mainland suddenly launched the W122 and W123 connecting routes of the M503 route to fly from west to east, which naturally made the Taiwan authorities feel quite angry. Taiwan's civil aviation department said that the W122 route is close to the southern edge of the Matsu interrupted airspace, while the W123 route is close to the Kinmen terminal airspace, and the nearest point is only 1.1 nautical miles, "the airspace between the two sides has become smaller", and there is a certain risk.
Taiwan's civil aviation department has demanded that its subordinate units must keep abreast of the flight conditions of mainland flights, and if they encounter a mainland aircraft approaching Taiwan's airspace, they should immediately make a request to the mainland air traffic control unit and ask the other side to take countermeasures to ensure the safety of aircraft in the "Taipei Flight Information Region" and the Kinmen and Matsu routes. The Taiwan authorities once again appealed to the mainland, hoping that the mainland would communicate with the Taiwan authorities on the issue of shipping routes as soon as possible and establish operational coordination between the air traffic control units of the two sides.
Regarding the mainland's launch of Taiwan-related routes, Shen Boyang, a representative of the Democratic Progressive Party, claimed that this is a "legal war" by the mainland, and that the launch of the route can make it "easier for civilian aircraft to harass Taiwan." What the Taiwan authorities lack most now is countermeasures, otherwise they will only make the mainland "press on step by step."
As a matter of fact, the mainland has shown enough goodwill toward Taiwan, but the DPP authorities have never grasped it. Instead of reflecting on the root causes of the deterioration of cross-strait relations, the DPP is considering the use of countermeasures; it seems that after Lai Ching-te comes to power, the DPP authorities' policy toward the mainland will not change much, and the mainland must take more measures to gradually withdraw its rights.
