Once Lai Ching-te comes to power, Taiwan will be abolished? The mainland has many means, and the good show has just begun

Faced with Lai Qingde, who was about to take office, many people on the island began to panic. Recently, some Taiwan media did a program, the main content of which was to interview the people and their views on Lai Qingde's inauguration, and one of the interviewees was very pessimistic, believing that after Lai Qingde came to power, Taiwan would soon be abolished. In fact, this viewpoint is not only on the island, but also on the mainland; after Lai Qingde's victory in the election, many voices appeared on the Internet to abolish the "Taiwan independence" elements and reunify as soon as possible.

So the question is, after Lai Qingde comes to power, will there be subversive changes between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait? We can look at this from two levels, first of all, the economy, and the probability of major changes at this level is still very high. Over the past few decades, the economic and trade relations between the mainland and the Taiwan region have always been very close, because the two countries belong to the same country, even though some "Taiwan independence" elements are now obstructing reunification. However, after all, we are a member of our country, so the mainland has always adopted the principle of "benefiting Taiwan" and hopes to lead the compatriots in the Taiwan region to jointly develop the economy and create a better tomorrow.

Of course, the prerequisite for all this is that they must identify with reunification and be willing to strive for the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait. It is not like the Democratic Progressive Party, which wants to profit from the mainland in trade and collude with foreign forces such as the United States. Naturally, the mainland cannot tolerate this kind of behavior of "eating and smashing the pot," and for this reason, if Lai Qingde still clings to the idea of "Taiwan independence" after taking office, then the first time the trade barrier investigation can be carried out, and the second time it can be carried out. When the time comes, the economic predicament that the Taiwan region is facing will be obvious.

You must know that except for the mainland, the island is now basically a "trade deficit" with other countries and regions, which means that if the mainland does not spend hundreds of billions of yuan every year to buy their products, the island's imports will always be greater than its exports. If you keep spending money on the outside world, Taiwan's economy will naturally come to a standstill, and even cause serious inflation. Therefore, the people on the island believe that once Lai Qingde takes power, Taiwan will be abolished, and this is not unfounded.

Second, from a military point of view, the probability of a subversive crisis in cross-strait relations is not so great. On the one hand, as the PLA's military exercises in the Taiwan Strait have become the norm, the Taiwan military is gradually getting used to the feeling that the strategic space is constantly being squeezed. On the other hand, after Lai Qingde comes to power, there will not be a situation in which a major war is imminent, because he does not dare to push forward the process of "Taiwan independence" at all, and the DPP still regards maintaining the status quo as its primary goal politically. Just as Lai Qingde said after his election, maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is his primary task.

Frankly speaking, there will be subversive changes on both sides of the strait, and it is likely that they will be at the economic level rather than the military level. However, we should also realize that after Lai Qingde takes charge of the DPP, the peaceful development and peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait will inevitably face greater difficulties and setbacks. Of course, the mainland has many means to resolve difficulties, and the good show of accurately cracking down on "Taiwan independence" elements has just begun.
