As the Audi Q6 e-tron approaches the mass production market, Audi is entering a new cycle, including the upcoming rebranding of the Audi A5 and Audi A7, which will show a strong sense of the future. In addition, in the SUV lineup, we also saw the "most handsome" Audi Q3 in many camouflage prototype spy photos and third-party renderings. Now, finally, it's the turn of the Audi Q5.
Produced and sold in China as the long-wheelbase Audi Q5L, it is actually the version that entered the factory in 2017, and it was three years ago since the last major facelift. And now, with the Audi Q6 e-tron and Audi Q3 "version", the new generation Audi Q5 has released the first renders. Not to mention, this version with a blue livery looks pretty good. Although it is not as refreshing as the Audi Q3, the vehicle has a lot of "electrified" elements, such as the partially covered polygonal large-mouth grille, integrated headlights, etc., which are reminiscent of some new energy models.
In fact, the rendering of the car is actually a plug-in hybrid version, as can be seen from the charging port cover on the front fenders, and we can see the separate deflaves from this lens. Towards the outward layout, we see a longitudinally arranged spoiler with front brake air intakes for cooling optimization.
In the rear position, we see the front and rear segmented waistline of the front and rear split layout of the vehicle, and the rear waistline can produce an integral bulge near the D-pillar and rear taillights, which is quite similar to the Audi Q3 we have seen, and will also be the main design expression of this batch of Audi fuel SUVs.
Don't look at it as a rendered version, but in fact, on the camouflage prototype test car earlier, we were able to identify some of the current production elements, such as the headlights seen here are the same as the camouflage test car. At the same time, the test car also uses almost the same three-air hole design on the front face as the rendered version, except for some details that cannot be determined at both ends, the trapezoidal air intake in the middle area can actually be confirmed.
In addition, judging from the side tail of the test car, the confirmed taillight part of the vehicle is actually not as good as the exposed sedan. The taillights are a bit more modest and the corners are not extended downwards but are traditionally horizontally arranged, except that they tend to be extended a little closer to the rear fenders and tend to converge towards the centre. As it stands, we can't tell if it will use a continuous taillight design, but we can already see that the high-mounted spoiler has been extended, as well as the bare exhaust pipes have been retained.
At present, Audi Q5 still seems to use a floating full LCD screen with a dual independent layout, instead of the conjoined curved screen exposed by models such as A7 before, which may usher in some ridicule if it is retained in production models. At the same time, we also noticed that the vehicle uses an electronic push-button shift mechanism, which will be more convenient and smooth during the gear shifting process.
In terms of power, the Audi Q5 will be offered in addition to the plug-in hybrid version, and will continue to be offered in the sporty version of the SQ5, which will share the new Audi S4 with a 3.0TFSI turbocharged V6 engine with six cylinders, which can provide a maximum horsepower of 375Ps, which will be 21Ps higher than the current model. At the same time, when combined with a ZF 8AT transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system that maintains a mechanical torque limited-slip differential, it can achieve 000 acceleration in 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
