It must be that all the selfish desires such as lust, profit, and good name are swept away and cleaned up, without the slightest remain, and the heart is completely pure, which is purely the principle of heaven, so that it can be called the joy, anger, sorrow and happiness that have not yet occurred, and it is the foundation of heaven and earth.
Pot Tianshan people interpret
Mr. Yang Ming pointed out the fundamental principle of personal cultivation here. Taoist practice and Confucian cultivation are in the same fundamental direction, both emphasizing that people should get rid of selfish and materialistic desires and return to their pure heart. Taoism talks about "the heart of a child" and returning to the basics, which is basically the same as Mr. Yang Ming's exposition here. The baby's heart is pure and unstained, in the process of growing up, along with the development of the body and mind and the influence of the environment, all kinds of selfish thoughts, material desires and obsessions are growing day by day, the heart is gradually blinded and tends to be hidden, and the selfish material desires continue to grow and dominate people's thoughts and words and deeds. The purpose of self-cultivation is to get rid of selfish and material desires, to restore the original mind that is unmoving, harmonious and unhindered, until the slightest selfish and material desire no longer exists, and to make the original conscience pure and completely the master of people's thoughts, words and deeds.
