At about 6:40 p.m. on April 11, Changning Fire received an alarm that a fire broke out in a small area on Maotai Road. Fortunately, residents happened to pass by at the time of the incident and called the police as soon as the fire broke out. Firefighters arrived at the scene to completely extinguish the fire, and the accident did not cause casualties, but 2 electric bicycles were burned, and some electric bicycles were damaged to varying degrees.
After on-site investigation by the fire department, it was found that the electric bicycle was not in a charging state at that time, and the cause of the fire was the failure of the over-standard lithium battery (60V) monomer to ignite the surrounding combustibles.
The owner of the car involved, Li, confessed that in order to facilitate his work, he bought an electric bicycle equipped with an over-standard lithium battery, but he did not expect to cause such serious consequences. At present, Li has been administratively detained by the Changning police in accordance with the law for the illegal act of causing the fire due to negligence.
It is understood that in response to the recent fire accidents caused by electric bicycles, Changning Fire Department, together with public security, market supervision and other functional departments, regularly carry out joint law enforcement around electric bicycles and accessories sales and maintenance outlets, standardize market operations, and eliminate hidden dangers at the source.
