Before 2019, the "kiln water" that everyone in the village drank was the water stored by introducing eaves water and ravine water into the kiln when it rained. In 2019, water pipes were laid in the village to bring water from the old dragon cave, 7 kilometers away. However, in the dry season of winter and spring, the water output of Laolongdong is small, and the villagers have to drink "underground kiln water" again. Until 2023, with the support of the Yunnan Qujing Zhanyi Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, a second-level pumping station was built in the village to bring water from the Niulan River at the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Since then, the villagers no longer have to worry about water for their daily production and production.
Nowadays, villages that had difficulty even drinking water for people and livestock have started large-scale breeding and planting industries with the help of electricity pumping. In the past, villagers had to wait for the rain to sow corn, but now, thanks to electricity pumping, they have planted more than 40 acres of flue-cured tobacco, and their income has increased several times on the original basis.
Especially this year, Qujing City has continued to drought, and although Zhanyi has reached the level of severe drought, thanks to the power pumping and irrigation, the spring plowing production in Houshan Village has been carried out as scheduled, and the transplanting work of large flue-cured tobacco farmers such as Mei Guolu has come to an end.
In recent years, in combination with rural revitalization, the Zhanyi Power Supply Bureau has taken ensuring people's livelihood electricity and production and living electricity in remote mountainous areas as its key work, vigorously promoting the construction of power grids and improving the level of power supply services. Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", the bureau has invested 97.9 million yuan in the field of power grid construction, built and renovated 350 kilometers of 10,000 volt and below voltage lines, and added 92 transformers, injecting strong power into the economic and social development of Zhanyi District, and effectively meeting the power and energy needs of the local people in pursuit of a better life.
