On April 16, the construction site of Tianfu Station of the Railway in Tianfu New Area, Sichuan Province was busy. Tianfu Station is expected to be completed and put into use in 2025 and will become another transportation hub in Chengdu.

"In September 2023, we first completed the renovation and construction of the platform floor of the station to meet the traffic needs of the Chengziyi high-speed railway. Recently, the lifting of the roof steel structure grid has been completed, laying the foundation for the subsequent construction of the membrane structure. According to Xie Jianle, the steel structure roof of Tianfu Station is a feather shape composed of a "quadrangular pyramid mixed arc grid" and a "hyperboloid single-layer grid" structure, with exquisite space, many rods, high installation and positioning accuracy, and great difficulty in component assembly and installation.

In order to ensure the quality and progress of the project, in the on-site construction, BIM software is used to establish a three-dimensional model, finite element software is used to analyze and calculate the key nodes of the roof, and the roof is used to improve the cumulative lifting technology in blocks and sections to shorten the construction period, improve the installation quality and ensure the construction safety.
With the completion of the construction of the steel structure grid, the prototype of the entire station has emerged, and a "phoenix" perched on the station yard slowly appears.

It is reported that Tianfu Station takes "nesting and attracting phoenixes" as the design concept, adopts a large number of curved elements in the form, and the shape design is modern and novel, elegant and continuous: the bird's-eye view effect is like a phoenix perched on the station; the façade highlights the stretch of the building with horizontal aluminum alloy lines, and the comprehensive transfer hall at the end - the phoenix eye and the Optics Valley canopy at the waist have become the visual centers of their respective facades.

As the most distinctive part of the whole project, the "Phoenix Eye" is located at the main entrance on the north and south sides of the station building, and it can be seen from the renderings that its main body is a circular spherical structure, which is embedded in the station building as a whole, and when viewed from a distance, it is like an open eye looking into the distance.

"The 'Phoenix Eye' is another major difficulty in our construction, its main body is a non-centripetal elliptical sphere, hyperboloid glass structure, composed of more than 2,500 pieces of curtain wall glass, more than 300 sizes, splicing and installation is quite difficult. Xie Jianle said that in order to improve the construction efficiency, the construction of the single song + flat plate combination form to optimize the design of the curtain wall, at the same time, the use of "rhinoceros + GH" software and "measurement robot" to establish a three-dimensional model of the curtain wall to ensure the accuracy of construction. In addition, the "three-dimensional pay-off technology of complex space visualization" is applied to realize the precise positioning and pay-off of complex spaces to ensure the perfect fit between the phoenix eye curtain wall and the ellipsoid surface.

As an important part of Chengdu railway hub, Tianfu Station has 12 stations and 22 lines, according to the planning and design of the north and south fields, each with 6 sets of 11 lines, Tianfu Station has introduced a total of 5 lines of rail transit, and has introduced Line 18 and 19, and Line 26, Line S7 and Line S16 have been introduced in the long term.

According to Xie Jianle, the total construction area of Tianfu Station is about 612,000 square meters, the station building area is 120,200 square meters, the station area is 65,700 square meters, and the canopy area is 43,800 square meters. Tianfu Station is one of the four main stations in the planning and layout of Chengdu's "four main and three auxiliary" railway hub passenger stations, and it is also the first TOD comprehensive railway station in Sichuan.
