Intel announced that it will discontinue the production of the 13th Gen Core "K" series from May 24

A few days ago, Xiaobian shared with you the problem that some mid-to-high-end models of Intel's 13th and 14th generation Core processors may cause unstable crashes in games, which has a certain universality and has aroused the attention of many friends.

In this regard, Intel's attitude has been very low-key, and there has been no positive response, I believe that many friends are now the same as Xiaobian, hoping that Intel can give an explanation as soon as possible, or make some adjustments to the product line.

Today, the editor wants to share the latest news on Intel's adjustment of the product line, but I want to solemnly emphasize that this adjustment measure has nothing to do with the problems mentioned by the editor before.

Recently, a notice sent by Intel to partners on March 21 was exposed, and the document has been published on Intel's official website, see Figures 2 and 3.

In this document, Intel made it clear that it will discontinue the production of the "K" series processors in the 13th generation Core on May 24. Discontinued models include: Core i5-13600K, Core i5-13600KF, Core i7-13700K, Core i7-13700KF, Core i9-13900K, and Core i9-13900KS.

Intel reminds partners that the last deadline for OEMs and processor retailers to order processors for these models is May 24, and all orders will be completed by June 28.

Intel did not elaborate on the specific reasons for the discontinuation of the above models, but for veteran digital hardware enthusiasts, this move is easy to understand.

There are two main reasons: first, the performance of the 13th generation Core processor is very close to the 14th generation Core processor, and the improvement is very chicken, which is better than nothing. In this case, for Intel, two generations of products are on sale at the same time, will the price of the previous generation of 13th generation Core processors be reduced, or will not be reduced?

If the price is not reduced, the price of the two generations of processors is basically the same, but the performance of the 14th generation Core processor is slightly stronger, then consumers will definitely give priority to the 14th generation Core processor instead of the 13th generation Core processor, and the 13th generation Core processor will be difficult to sell.

On the contrary, if the price of the 13th generation Core processor is not reduced, since the performance of the two generations of processors is about the same, and the price of the 13th generation Core processor is slightly cheaper, then for the sake of cost performance, many friends will give priority to the 13th generation Core processor, and the 14th generation Core processor will be difficult to sell.

This situation is very embarrassing and extremely unfavorable for Intel, which is equivalent to a left-handed fight. On the other hand, Intel also has strong competitive pressure from AMD, so Intel simply chose to directly discontinue the production of 13th generation Core processors.

Seeing this, some friends may be curious: Will the 12th generation Core processor also be adjusted, will it also be discontinued? The answer is no, Intel has not announced the news of discontinuation at present.

In general, Intel's decision to discontinue the production of 13th generation Core processors is mainly due to market considerations, and it has nothing to do with the problems mentioned earlier that may cause the game to run unstable, and it is a "technical adjustment".

The 13th Gen Core processor was released at the end of 2022, and it has been less than a year and a half so far, which is relatively short-lived, but it is estimated that in the short to medium term, consumers can still buy it in the market, but it is strongly not recommended.
