To forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and build a modern civilization of the Chinese nation, it is necessary to thoroughly study and elaborate on the formation and development process of the Chinese civilization, fully grasp the roots of the Chinese civilization, and strengthen cultural self-confidence. Compiled by the China Museum of Nationalities and published by the Sichuan Nationalities Publishing House, "Why China: The Historical Memory of the Chinese Community in 100 Cultural Relics" (hereinafter referred to as "Why China") uses 100 representative cultural relics to show the magnificent picture of the formation and development of the Chinese national community and interpret the rich historical connotation of the Chinese national community. As soon as the book was published, it attracted people's attention with its unique compilation method, rich intellectual content, and exquisite printing skills. I read this book carefully and was deeply influenced by his patriotic feelings, scientific attitude, and meticulous work spirit. Scientific and rigorous With a high degree of historical and cultural self-confidence and the courage to take responsibility, the compilers of "Why China" are determined to explain that Chinese civilization is a great civilization created by all ethnic groups, and it is the only great civilization in the world that has continued to develop in the form of a country, providing strong physical support for building a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. In order to complete this grand narrative theme, the authors carefully selected 100 representative cultural relics on the basis of familiarity with the relevant cultural relics and documents in this field, interspersed with concise and finishing touches, and brilliantly completed this arduous task. Participating in the compilation are experts who have been engaged in the research of ethnic cultural relics for a long time in the China National Museum, and on the basis of combing a large number of historical relics about China, they interpret the selected cultural relics with a scientific attitude. For example, in the prologue "The Roots of Human Life More Than One Million Years", two Yuanmou human incisor fossils are selected. The editors first introduced that this incisor fossil has been scientifically identified as 1.7 million years old and is a shovel-shaped incisor of ancient humans. The author did not stop at the cultural relics themselves, but looked at all parts of the country, and after studying many ancient human sites, he found that most of the incisors were shovel-shaped, and then observed other races in the world, and there were very few shovel-shaped incisors. These insights are not generalized, but supported by specific data. With scientific and rigorous exposition, it effectively reveals the local characteristics of the origin of the Chinese nation, enables readers to have a deep understanding of the roots of China millions of years ago, develops the deep-seated spiritual resources of cultural relics, and realizes the social feelings of the compiler. Clear Context "Why China" arranges seemingly unrelated cultural relics in an orderly manner by compilers, carefully connects them, and expounds them in elegant and popular words, so that it becomes a vivid historical picture of the formation and development of the Chinese nation. The book uses highly expressive and narrative historical material evidence to trace the origin and go downstream, connecting the ancient and modern, revealing the historical memory of the Chinese national community contained in the cultural relics, presenting the historical trajectory and evolution scenes of the formation and development of the Chinese nation, and showing the continuity of Chinese history. In the first chapter of the book, "The Conception and Origin of the Chinese Nation", 29 cultural relics such as the Hemudu Guyun, the Hongshan Jade Dragon, the Dragon-shaped Yazhang and the earliest bronze He Zun with written records of the word "China" show the history from 7,000 years ago to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period In the third chapter, "The Formation of the Conscious Entity of the Chinese Nation," eight cultural relics, including the Humen Iron Cannon, Mao Zedong's handwriting "Consolidating the United Front," and the first five-star red flag of the People's Republic of China, are used to show the historical outlook from the late Qing Dynasty to the founding of New China. The whole book uses the organic connection of "things" and "texts" in the order of history, and realizes the connection of "history". These include the origin of the pluralistic unity of the Chinese nation in the early days, the rise of China in the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, the five-party pattern of Huayi in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the beginning of the unified multi-ethnic state in the Qin and Han dynasties, the great integration of nationalities in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties periods, the development of a unified multi-ethnic state in the Tang Dynasty, the great ethnic integration in the Song, Liao, Xia and Jin dynasties, the consolidation of the unified multi-ethnic state in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and the continuous sublimation of the sense of community of the Chinese nation and the opening of a new era after the founding of New China。 China is a vast multi-ethnic country with a long history. While focusing on the orderly development of China's vertical history, "Why China" also pays great attention to the overall layout of the region, which not only takes into account the echo between the central and local governments, but also the care of the central region of China and the border ethnic areas, as well as the interaction and complementarity of farming, nomadism and mountainous areas. Among the 100 cultural relics carefully selected, there are not only many heavyweight cultural relics from the main birthplace of the Han nationality in the Central Plains, such as the Erlitou dragon-shaped tooth zhang in Henan Province, He Zun in Shaanxi Province, the double-legged three-legged white pottery pot in Shandong Province, and the Zhu Shubian pottery pot in Shanxi Province. There are also precious cultural relics from the surrounding ethnic areas, such as the Jinshangjing bronze sitting dragon in Heilongjiang Province, the Hongshan Jade Dragon in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the brocade arm guard of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's "Five Stars Out of the East to benefit China", the Tibet Autonomous Region's "Saban to the Tibetan People's Book", the bone flute of Qinghai Province, the bronze longitudinal mask of Sichuan Province, the gold seal of the "Seal of the Dian King" in Yunnan Province, the big copper drum in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the large copper kettle in Guizhou, and the Hemudu Bone Bow in Zhejiang Province, etc., covering most of China's provinces and regions in terms of region. The types of cultural relics selected are diverse, mutual learning and complementarity, dazzling and high-quality products. The compilers paid special attention to the display of the close ties between the various ethnic groups in history, and appropriately expressed and explained the important ethnic groups in history and the regimes they established, such as the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Rouran, Turkic, Uighur, Tibetan, Khitan, Dangxiang, Jurchen, Mongol, Manchu, etc. Through the interpretation of the selected cultural relics, it shows the close exchanges, exchanges and blending between various ethnic groups in Chinese history. We can clearly understand that the Chinese nation and all ethnic groups are closely related to each other, flesh and blood, interdependence, and no one can do without anyone, highlighting the integrity of the Chinese nation. In short, this thick "Why China" presents the process of the Chinese national community from freedom to consciousness from multiple angles, examining the origins of the mirror, in-depth and simple, and highly readable, and truly making the cultural relics "come alive", which is conducive to promoting the consolidation and improvement of the sense of community of the Chinese nation from the perspective of the new era, is conducive to cohesion and identity, opens up new horizons, enhances cultural self-confidence, and helps the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
