According to a prominent Sega leaker, Atlus' upcoming Metaphorical Fantasy: ReFantazio is expected to be released later this fall without any delay. This is a brand new IP from Atlus, and there are many people in charge of the game who worked on the Persona series before. Unlike urban fantasy RPG series like the Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio has a more traditional high-fantasy setting. While Metaphor: ReFantazio doesn't have the same gameplay loop as Persona, they both retain a lot of social simulation and dungeon exploration elements and share the same DNA.
When Metaphor: ReFantazio was first announced at the Xbox Game Showcase last June, it targeted a release window of spring 2024. The second trailer for Metaphor was shown during The Game Awards 2023 in December. However, it stated that the game would be delayed until the fall of 2024. It's not uncommon for a game to experience one or two lags in the industry. According to a prominent Sega leaker, the game is likely to stick to the fall 2024 window and won't be delayed for too long.
This information comes from Midori, a very reliable leaker about various Sega and Persona games, and she has an accurate track record in 2023. Midori simply replied that "Metaphor won't be delayed", and while that doesn't say for sure if the game is complete, it seems to at least indicate that the game will be released sometime within the projected fall 2024 window.
While no official date has been provided for the game, Midori has also leaked a potential release date for the game. According to Midori, the Metaphor store page on the Microsoft Store homepage in Hong Kong lists the game's date as October 12. While this may be a placeholder date, coinciding with the Fall 2024 window, it's a fairly specific date. Assuming that both of these leaks by Midori are accurate, Metaphor: ReFantazio could be released on October 12 without any further delay.
Midori also claims that Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released on Nintendo Switch with Persona 3 Reload on the next gen of Nintendo Switch after the game launches later this fall. While Midori has an incredibly accurate track record to date, fans should still take these leaks with a grain of salt until Atlus or Sega announces the game's official release date.
