"The two non-motorized carports in the community are illegally built, and the community has issued two notices to demolish them and install new charging piles, but there has been no movement until now. There is a serious phenomenon of 'flying wire' charging in the community, which has great potential safety hazards. Recently, Mr. He, the owner of Donghuayuan Community, Yunlong District, Xuzhou City, reported to the Yangtze Evening News "Something to Find Purple Cow" column, saying that there are two old non-motorized carports in their community that are illegally built, and because parking needs to be charged, few people usually charge in it. Over the years, there are piles of garbage inside, which not only occupy space, but also bring a lot of inconvenience to the lives of residents. At the same time, due to the lack of charging piles in the community, many owners choose "flying wire" charging, which not only causes non-motor vehicles to be parked indiscriminately, but also brings hidden dangers to the personal safety of the owners.

Mr. He said that he had reported the problem to the 12345 government hotline last year, and the relevant departments also promised to demolish it as soon as possible, re-plan and renovate, dedicate the original carport to parking spaces, and add new charging piles. In March of this year, the community posted two notices stating that the carport would be demolished on March 13. However, for unknown reasons, the demolition work has not been carried out so far. Mr. He hopes that the Yangtze Evening News' "Looking for Purple Cow" column will pay attention to this matter and urge the relevant departments to fulfill their commitments as soon as possible.

On the morning of April 15, the reporter came to the Donghuayuan community and saw the two carports that Mr. He pointed out in front of the 3rd and 4th buildings in the community. According to visual inspection, the length of the single carport is about 20 meters, which is almost the same level as the entire building. The reporter walked in and found that the two carports were separated from a small single room of a few square meters, and the owner told reporters that the person who had taken care of the vehicle had been living in it and moved out after the notice of demolition last month. The reporter saw that a small number of electric vehicles were still parked in the carport, and the ground was also full of garbage and waste, and there was an unpleasant smell in the air.

The reporter visited the community and found that there are 2 charging piles in the southeast of the community, which can charge up to 20 electric vehicles at the same time, but there are less than 10 vehicles charging at the scene, and half of the plugs are idle. In addition, there are a number of electric vehicles parked in front of each unit building, accounting for most of the unit doors, and some electric vehicles are charging, looking up along the wires, and it is connected to the residents' homes.

The reporter saw that such "flying lines" are not uncommon in the community. Many residents on the lower floors fixed the wires on the walls with pipes or tapes, etc., and extended them to the door of the units, while the residents on the upper floors threw the wires directly out of the window for more than 10 meters to extend to the first floor, and some residents also "intimately" put on "raincoats" made of plastic buckets on the plug-in boards in order to prevent water ingress. "At this time, there are not many charges, and at 7 or 8 o'clock in the evening, it is even more 'spectacular', as long as there is an electric car at home, almost every family is 'flying wire' charging. A user who lives on the first floor told reporters.

During the interview, the reporter learned that as an old community, Donghuayuan Community has no property management, and the problem of difficult charging of electric vehicles for residents has existed for a long time. Many residents said they knew about the hazards of "flying wire" charging, but because there were fewer charging piles in the community, they could not meet the charging demand, and they thought that charging at home was convenient and cost-saving, so they still chose to risk flying wires. However, some residents said that after the community builds sufficient charging piles in the later stage, they will choose a safer and compliant charging method.

If the illegal carport is not demolished, the new charging pile cannot be installed, and the problem of difficult charging for residents cannot be solved. Regarding the current situation of the Donghuayuan community, the reporter gave feedback to the Minjian community. The staff said that at present, the carport of Donghuayuan community has been identified as an illegal stock and included in the demolition plan, and the specific demolition work is carried out by the relevant departments of Huangshan Street.

Subsequently, the reporter contacted the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau of the Huangshan Sub-district Office by phone, and the staff told the reporter that the demolition of the illegal carport in the Donghuayuan community needs to be reported level by level, and the construction can only start after approval, which will take a certain amount of time. At present, the work has been coordinated in place, and the next step is to start construction as soon as the workers and machinery are put in place, and the demolition work is expected to be completed by the end of April. Regarding the chaotic phase of "flying line" charging in the community, the staff said that after the carport is dismantled, a sufficient number of charging piles will be installed to meet the charging needs of residents' electric vehicles. In the future, the management of the charging problem in the community will be strengthened, and if there is still a "flying line" charging phenomenon, it will be dealt with according to the regulations after it is found.
