Since announcing at the end of February that it would apply the research and development results of passenger cars to the field of two-wheeled electric vehicles, BYD has recently updated the information on the development of two-wheeled vehicles.
BYD said that the level of the project has been upgraded, not only increased investment in research and development, and has achieved quite good results, and the safety battery that can be piloted upstairs in June. This also means that BYD's two-wheeled vehicles are getting closer and closer to us.
At the same time, Lima Electric released a new model H5, which claims to use BYD's blade battery, which can run 1,000 kilometers on a single charge. However, the price is 7999 yuan, which is really not cheap. This positioning is too niche, and it seems to be more like testing the waters before BYD officially builds a two-wheeled vehicle.

According to BYD's official statement, the reason why the idea of building a two-wheeled vehicle came up was because of the "2.23" fire accident in Nanjing caused by an electric two-wheeler in the community.
BYD hopes to develop a safe battery that can go upstairs to solve the industry's stubborn problems.
The development of new batteries to solve the inherent problems of existing batteries is not the first time BYD has done such a thing. BYD has set off a round of starter battery innovation before, using a new lithium iron phosphate battery as a starter battery, which has the same life as the whole vehicle and solves the problem of battery replacement that annoys many drivers.
This time, making a safe battery that can go upstairs seems to be a repeat of the old trick for BYD. After all, technically speaking, BYD's blade battery is safe enough, not only achieving zero spontaneous combustion, but even facing the needle prick test without fire. Nowadays, it is only used in two-wheeler batteries, and it should not be difficult to achieve the performance required by the latter.
Of course, for a technology-based enterprise like BYD, any layout it does is meaningful, and it cannot be purely for profit. What's more, the market for two-wheeled electric vehicles is actually not that big, and the premium ability is also limited. Now BYD's single car profit is about 10,000 yuan, and it may have to sell 20 two-wheelers to earn it back.
In the view of Kung Fu Motors, BYD's biggest intention to enter this market may be to open up a new layout. The first is the echelon use of batteries, BYD's sales have continued to explode in the past two years, last year's annual sales have exceeded 3 million, and this year there is a high probability of impacting 4 million. This also means that in a few years, the number of retired batteries will gradually increase, first for commercial vehicles, and then for ordinary users.
For two-wheeled electric vehicles, it is completely possible to use the retired power batteries of electric vehicles. Even if it has been attenuated to 70%, it is still better than the current lead-acid battery for two-wheelers.
In addition, BYD's sodium-ion battery has entered the second stage around the cost, and it is expected that from next year, the BOM price will be on par with lithium iron phosphate. In the long run, sodium-ion batteries can achieve less than 70% of the price of lithium iron phosphate. Compared with lithium batteries, sodium batteries have the advantage of a wider source of raw materials, longer lifespan, and lower price. If it can't be applied to a large vehicle in the short term, it is also good to use it on a two-wheeled vehicle.
Therefore, although BYD may not necessarily see the profits of two-wheelers, the benefits of making two-wheelers are actually obvious.
(2) Yadi panicked, all because she didn't fight?
BYD's entry into the two-wheeled vehicle market is definitely the star enterprises in the two-wheeled vehicle industry, such as Yadea and Emma. I have to say that although these companies have been doing it for a long time, the technology is really not very good.
One of the most fatal points is that almost all two-wheeler companies have serious inaccurate power labeling. I believe everyone has had such an experience, marked with 5 grids of electricity to go out, but after running a few kilometers there are only 2 grids left; or look at the full charge, but as a result of twisting the handle, it directly becomes a grid of electricity; and sometimes the battery is empty, worrying about slowing down the speed of the car, and the result can still jump back to a grid of electricity.
As for security, there has been no progress at all over the years. Almost all communities are trying to prevent electric vehicles from going upstairs, but none of the companies jumped out and said that they wanted to make a safe voltage that could go upstairs, but completely threw the problem to consumers and community managers. From this point of view, the sense of responsibility of these two-wheeler companies is also lacking.
What's more, the industry is still very weird. Even if it is the previous Maverick electric car, the No. 9 electric car, it can be regarded as a new force in two-wheeled vehicles.
When they first entered the industry, these companies were also full of ambition, and the earliest products were sincere. But the next step is not to work hard and continue to develop new technologies to reduce costs, but to choose to join the same stream with Yadea and jointly cut consumers' leeks, which is really infuriating.
In the past few years, BYD Qin PLUS DM-i has increased from 100,000 to 79,800, and the configuration is still increasing. And what about the two-wheeler industry, which is almost the same as it was a decade ago, with no technological progress at all, and it is completely in a state of rottenness.

Of course, for Yadea, when these behemoths rush over, it is definitely a very scary thing. The biggest feature of technology-based enterprises is efficiency, which includes not only strong R&D capabilities, but also the speed of execution of the entire decision-making, as well as excellent integration capabilities.
