Ding Guokun is the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage "Poyang Lacquerware Decoration Technique", born in a local lacquer art family, he is 82 years old this year, and has been engaged in the research and production of reborn lacquerware for more than 60 years. At his home in the old town of Poyang County, Shangrao, teacher Ding Guokun is hand-painting vermilion seals on the lacquered tiles. Speaking of their family's craft, this eighty-year-old man's eyes are full of confidence, at least in the prosperous Poyang more than 100 years ago, the rebirth of lacquerware decoration skills is famous.
The reborn lacquerware is made of natural lacquer, ramie cloth and lacquer ash as raw materials, through molding, wrapping, ashing, lacquering, rebirth polishing, decoration and other processes, with moisture-proof, insulation, acid resistance, non-corrosive, non-toxic characteristics. It is well-known at home and abroad for its sturdy lacquer tires, elegant decoration, and coordinated Bacai, but the process is too cumbersome and too difficult.
Mr. Ding Guokun introduced, the production of reborn lacquerware is not only complex and long working hours, and the material is very expensive, and the operators are generally based on the production of furniture, supplemented by small products, it is difficult to make a living in the old society, so this craft is also declining, until the founding of New China, it is not resumed to develop.
In the fifties and sixties of the last century, Ding Guokun's uncle, with the support of the state, led a group of craftsmen who made lacquerware utensils, opening the road to reviving the ancient reborn lacquerware. But as soon as everyone met, they found that it was not as easy as they imagined, for example, I don't know the part you know, and I don't understand the part of him who will, how can I reproduce it completely, everyone came up with such a trick.
This group of craftsmen each imitated the utensils they had made, including fifty or sixty pieces of works such as hat tubes and tea tubes, so that this craft could be concretized and used by the whole factory to learn and study together.
