The Democratic Party's landslide victory in the recent parliamentary elections bodes well for the party's potential position in future local and presidential elections.
Lee Jae-myung is clearly more popular with South Koreans than Yoon Suk-yeol, and he narrowly lost to the former in the '22 election.
Two years have passed since Yoon Suk-yeol's government has become increasingly unpopular, and if Lee Jae-myung decides to return to the presidential election in 2027, his chances of victory are considerable.
