It turned out that this was not a flying caterpillar, but a mature seed of the sugar gum tree.

The flowering period of sugar gum tree is from June to November every year, the fruit period is from October to April of the following year, its fruit is linear, slender as noodles, 20 to 57 cm long, clusters of clusters at the end of the branches, initially green, mature and brown and cracked. The seeds are oblong, pale brown, and the ends are covered with reddish-brown long marginal hairs, which are 1.5–2 cm long and spread by the wind.
