In the spring of 1753, the Qianlong Emperor who went to the Jietai Temple for the first time to play, saw the pine and cypress inside and outside the temple, full of green, although the scenery was very beautiful, but the color was slightly monotonous, so he ordered someone to transplant a few lilacs from the Old Summer Palace and plant them into the Jietai Temple. Since then, the lilacs in the Imperial Garden have formed an indissoluble bond with the ancient temple.
A hundred years later, the descendants of these lilacs who grew up in Jietai Temple were transplanted back to the Old Summer Palace, which is located in the southeast of the western scenic area of the Old Summer Palace. If you want to come and see it, don't miss it.
