Microsoft is turning on Copilot to more users on Windows 11 instead of the Show Desktop button

author:cnBeta

Microsoft updated the documentation in March, confirming that Copilot would be rolled out more broadly on Windows 11 or 10, but it is still not available to everyone. That changed with the rollout of the Tuesday Patch in April, and more people can use Copilot on Windows 11 (and Windows 10).

Some devices that meet all the requirements but didn't previously have Copilot now have Copilot turned on by default. We've noticed that after deploying the Monthly Patch Tuesday update on devices, Copilot is pinned to the right side of the taskbar.

This shows that Copilot is slowly approaching the next big update. Microsoft is working on a major update for Copilot on Windows that will allow users to use AI to move files between folders and directories or change several built-in settings. All you need to do is open Copilot on Windows and let the AI move files or change settings.

Some of these skills or actions were supposed to be available at the end of March 2024, but Microsoft delayed the update to roll out Copilot on more devices.

If you're using the Windows 11 operating system and Microsoft turned on Copilot for your device in the April 2024 update, you'll also notice that the Show Desktop button is missing.

For those who don't know, Show Desktop is a small button at the end of the taskbar that gives you a quick view of your desktop. That's not the case with Windows 10, which retains the "display desktop" by default, even with Copilot. In Windows 11, artificial intelligence, powered by ChatGPT, is promoted more frequently than Windows 10.

To turn on the feature, right-click on the taskbar, select Settings to open the taskbar settings, and finally toggle Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop. As you can see in the screenshot above, if you turn on Personalization and then go to the taskbar settings, you'll find this customization option as well.
