Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a new type of public research university established in Shenzhen under the background of China's higher education reform and development. On February 14, 2022, the Ministry of Education and other three ministries and commissions announced the second round of "Double First-Class" universities and disciplines, and Southern University of Science and Technology and the Department of Mathematics were selected into the list of "Double First-Class" universities and disciplines. Drawing on the discipline setting and school-running model of world-class science and engineering universities, the university focuses on science, engineering and medicine, and has a discipline system of both business and characteristic humanities and social sciences, and runs schools at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels.

Enrollment plan

In 2024, SUSTech plans to recruit 20 undergraduate students in Beijing, and candidates must choose to take physics and chemistry. Students who intend to apply for the examination must register in the registration system of our school in advance and take the ability test of our school, otherwise they will not be admitted to our school only by virtue of their college entrance examination results.

Freshmen and sophomores can choose from a total of 37 majors in science, engineering, economics, management and other disciplines according to their interests and specialties.

Talent training characteristics

SUSTech has established an international, high-level and young faculty team. Up to now, SUSTech has signed contracts to introduce more than 1,400 teachers, including 64 academicians (48 full-time academicians have been contracted to introduce and independently train), 73 international fellows, 47 distinguished professors (including youth) of the Ministry of Education, 26 experts of the "National Special Support Program", 57 winners of "National Outstanding Young Scholars", and 33 winners of "National Excellent Youth". More than 90% of the teachers of the teaching and research series have overseas work experience, more than 60% have the experience of working or studying in the world's top 100 universities, and high-level talents account for more than 50% of the teaching and research series.

SUSTech is committed to cultivating top-notch innovative talents. The specific measures are based on the "credit system, tutor system, and college system", relying on the "631" enrollment system, curriculum system, scientific research system, innovative training system, "general education + professional education" (1+3, 2+2) training system, and international three-semester system, to implement the "personalized, elite, international" top-notch innovative talent training.

(1) General knowledge and majors are connected, and students can freely choose majors according to their interests and specialties after one year of enrollment;

(2) Dual-tutor education, college management, each undergraduate student will have two professors as their "life mentor" and "professional mentor" respectively;

(3) Research-led teaching, encouraging undergraduates to participate in scientific research;

(4) International training: international high-quality teachers, training programs and methods in line with international standards, international exchange opportunities covering all employees, and international teaching atmosphere.
