Zhang Fatang, the prince of Chinese peony, is a member of the Communist Party of China, a national cadre, a college diploma, a director of the International Artists Association, the secretary general of the Shaanxi Committee, a senior artist, a photographer, the president of the Painting and Calligraphy Institute of the Mao Zedong Thought Academic Research Association of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council, the vice president of the Chinese Artists Association, an academician of the Shaanxi Taibai Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, the chairman of the National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy in Shanghai, the honorary president of the Shanxi Guan Gong Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute, and a member of the Calligraphy and Painting Association of the Qinghai Provincial Committee on Aging.

Born in 1948 in the scholarly family, in 1968 from his hometown of Shaanxi enlisted in the Lanzhou Military Region and then transferred to the Qinghai Military Region Headquarters Management Office, a few years later transferred to the local work, in 1998 by the Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture approved to retire. During his tenure, he successively worked in weaving and education management, publicity, and personnel management.
