As the world-renowned Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix is approaching, the venue of the event, the Shanghai International Circuit, is also actively showing the world the new green style of Chinese motorsports with its innovative technology and environmental protection concept.

Innovative technology integration

Precise refurbishment of the track to run out of "acceleration"

After 20 years of trials and hardships, in order to ensure the smooth holding of the 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix and the venue's continuous high-quality hosting of international and domestic first-class events in the future, Jiuti Center, the operation and management party of Shanghai International Circuit, recently played a set of accurate and efficient "combination punches" for the renovation of the F1 track - within 6 days, through the four steps of fine milling, grinding, shot blasting and sealing, the renovation of the bumpy section of the track was completed.

It is worth mentioning that in the process of "fine milling" of the track, the first introduction of digital 3D technology and mechanical equipment combined with millimeter-level precision cutting of the track surface, which is the first in the world F1 track Shanghai Circuit, this innovative measure not only improves work efficiency, but also greatly reduces waste production at the source, realizes the efficient use of resources, is the vivid embodiment of the concept of "no waste" in the racetrack. Before the F1 race, the FIA Road Inspector will bring experts to the track for the final acceptance.

Low-carbon, energy-saving, and renewable

The "green" service of the venue can be turned on with one click

Following the theme of low-carbon and energy-saving, in order to better support the various activities held during the F1 race, Jiuti Center completed the update of the LED lights for some lighting in the venue before April, which nearly doubled the power consumption of the original single lamp, but doubled the lighting brightness compared with the original, reducing energy consumption and improving the lighting effect at the same time, creating a more comfortable and bright racing environment for the majority of fans and friends.

In addition, the Jiuti Center has also laid 23 new energy charging piles in some areas of the venue to provide convenient charging services for the event staff, and also explore effective paths for the promotion and cooperation of new energy in the venue in the future. In addition, a total of 29 direct drinking water points inside and outside the stadium will be updated to meet the drinking water needs of staff, tourists and spectators during the F1 race.

Standardize waste management

Realization of used engine oil "Nissan Nissin"

In view of the harmless treatment of waste engine oil, the main waste that will be generated during the competition, Jiuti Center has also formulated a set of standardized collection and safe disposal workflow after many considerations and demonstrations, so as to realize the "Nissan Nissin" of waste engine oil and avoid environmental pollution.

Behind the speed and passion, a series of measures in the "green" and "zero-waste" operation of Shanghai International Circuit are the adherence to and implementation of the concept of environmental protection, and inject more green power into the future urban development.
