As early as the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Wang Zhengzhu was transferred to the staff of the General Headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, and became the right-hand man of the deputy commander-in-chief Peng Lao.
Mr. Peng is always known for his big temper, but after getting along for a long time, Wang Zhengzhu knows that Mr. Peng is a manifestation of his straightforward personality and open-mindedness. If he has something dissatisfied, he will show it at the time, and he will not settle accounts behind his back.

Wang Zhengzhu is conscientious and responsible, has rich experience on the battlefield, and often resolves combat crises, and is praised by Peng Dehuai as one of the "four major staff officers", and has the reputation of "living map" and "living dictionary". It was October 1947, Peng Dehuai personally led the three columns of the 1st, 3rd, and 6th columns of the Northwest Field Army to attack Yulin for the second time. However, the walls of Yulin were high and strong, and the People's Liberation Army failed to attack several times.
After several days of attacking, the 3rd Column organized a "death squad" to carry out blasting before finally blowing a hole in the Yulin City Wall. However, the enemy's equipment and weapons were all superior, and the enemy troops in the city fired wildly from the gap, and immediately the blood flowed profusely.
At this moment, Wang Zhengzhu learned from the analysis of intelligence and telegrams that Chiang Kai-shek had ordered Ningxia Ma Hongkui, Hu Zongnan and Fu Zuoyi to reinforce Yulin, and could no longer continue to fight.
After learning of the seriousness of the matter, Wang Zhengzhu immediately reported to Peng Dehuai and suggested that the siege should be stopped immediately and moved immediately.
But at this moment, Peng Dehuai couldn't listen at all, the troops did not take Yulin for several days, he was already angry with the enemy in the city, and he was determined to continue the attack.
However, two days later, the situation became more urgent, and after the battle for reinforcements began, Wang Zhengzhu had to propose a second retreat. Peng Dehuai was annoyed: "Now the anger is puffed up and irreversible, isn't the blood of the soldiers who sacrificed in front of the retreat in vain, and your Wang Zhengzhu mentions retreating again, it is to shake the hearts of the army, and I will shoot you if you say it!"
Wang Zhengzhu knows Peng Dehuai's character very well, and he doesn't say anything, but he doesn't give up. After he reported to Zhang Zongxun and other leaders, he received their support and sent a telegram to Zhou Enlai in their name.
After Zhou Enlai learned about the situation, he also supported Wang Zhengzhu's idea, and sent a direct telegram to Peng Dehuai ordering him to abandon the siege.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Zhengzhu served as deputy chief of staff of the First Field Army and still maintained close ties with Peng Dehuai.
In 1950, when the Korean War broke out, Peng Dehuai was appointed commander of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army to fight in Korea when he reported from Xi'an to Beijing. At that time, Peng Dehuai went to the DPRK with Chairman Mao's eldest son Mao Anying, and Gao Ruixin, the chief of operations staff who had worked beside Wang Zhengzhu for five years.

After Wang Zhengzhu received the order, in order to resist US aggression and aid Korea, he left his one-year-old daughter in Lanzhou and handed her over to the Russian nurse who fed her since she was a child to continue to raise. After several months of preparations for entering the court, Wang Zhengzhu crossed the Yalu River from Dandong on April 15 and arrived at the headquarters of the Volunteer Army in Kongsidong, Chengdu County on the 18th, that is, he entered the fourth campaign that was nearing the end and began to prepare for the fifth campaign.
As soon as Peng Dehuai saw Wang Zhengzhu, he said: "If I knew at Xi'an Airport that I was going to Beijing to study the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, I would have called you on the plane together." It can be seen that Wang Zhengzhu is very important in Peng Dehuai's heart.
After entering the DPRK, Wang Zhengzhu found that the Korean War was completely different from the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and it was much more difficult to fight. What surprised Wang Zhengzhu even more was that Mr. Peng, who had been separated for half a year, had two obvious changes. One is that his temper is much better and he rarely gets angry, and the other is that he pays extra attention to safety.

After entering the court, Wang Zhengzhu was in charge of the headquarters and the direct team, and the first task given to him by Mr. Peng was to do a good job in safety and prevent unnecessary casualties. To this end, Wang Zhengzhu worked day and night, and soon worked out more effective air defense measures and anti-airborne measures.
Thanks to Wang Zhengzhu's efforts, until the armistice, there were no casualties caused by US air raids and air bombings at the headquarters.

Wang Zhengzhu knew that it was Mao Anying and Gao Ruixin who exchanged their lives for the safety of their comrades-in-arms in the headquarters.
The fifth campaign ended perfectly, in order to avoid the enemy's strengths and attack its shortcomings, Wang Zhengzhu suggested to Peng Dehuai that the sixth campaign be canceled and the battlefield warfare should be changed to tunnel warfare. In the later Battle of Shangganling, Wang Zhengzhu coordinated logistics support and supply, which greatly protected the victory of Shangganling.
Under the high-intensity work, Wang Zhengzhu's body collapsed significantly, and gallstones often made it difficult for him to bear. The Ministry of Health recommended returning to China for treatment, but Mr. Peng did not agree, but ordered Wang Zhengzhu's wife, Luo Jian, to go to the DPRK to take care of his body.

In 1953, when the Korean War ended, Wang Zhengzhu honorably completed his mission and received a notice to return to China.
