In the seventh chapter of the original work, the Jade Emperor ordered Sun Wukong to be escorted to the demon slaying platform, and the five flowers were tied to the demon subduing pillar and tortured. He first ordered "slashing and chopping, spear stabbing and swords", this knife and axe are naturally not ordinary knives and axes, and guns and swords are not ordinary guns and swords, they are all divine weapons of the heavenly court, which can be used on Sun Wukong's body, but it is like paper paste, "Don't want to hurt his body".
The Jade Emperor thought to himself, since the weapon can't hurt him, the divine fire can always be, right? So he asked the Southern Dipper to order the gods of the fire department to set fire to simmer, but it still couldn't hurt Sun Wukong in the slightest.
The Jade Emperor was so angry that he simply gave Sun Wukong a stimulus, "Hit the gods of the thunder department with thunder chips", what was the result? Sun Wukong seemed to be strong when he was strong, and "he couldn't hurt a single bit."
Just when the Jade Emperor was distressed, Taishang Laojun, who was watching the punishment from the sidelines, looked suddenly enlightened, and said to the Jade Emperor: "That monkey ate a peach, drank the imperial wine, and stole the elixir. The use of samadhi fire is forged into a piece, so it is made of gold and steel, and it cannot be injured in a hurry. ”
Therefore, his suggestion was, "Why don't you take it with the old Tao, put it in the gossip furnace, and temper it with civil and military fire." Refining my pill, he himself is ashes."
The Jade Emperor then handed Sun Wukong over to Taishang Laojun to dispose of.
But as you know, Taishang Laojun threw Sun Wukong into the gossip furnace and refined it for seven hundred and forty-nine days, but he did not refine him, but helped him refine it into a fiery eye.
Some people believe that this is not that the civil and military fire of the Bagua Furnace cannot refine Sun Wukong, but that after Sun Wukong was thrown into the Bagua Furnace, he immediately hid in Xun, which is a vent and the temperature is relatively low, so it has not been refined. In other words, if Sun Wukong did not hide in Xun, he would inevitably be refined by the Bagua Furnace.
So, can the Bagua Furnace really refine Sun Wukong?
Taishang Laojun may not be telling the truth, this point, we can see the clue from the words of the Bodhi Patriarch.
In the second chapter of the original work, after the Bodhi Patriarch taught Sun Wukong immortality, he told him that learning the art of immortality may not be able to achieve immortality, because in order to maintain the order of the Three Realms, natural disasters will descend every five hundred years, testing those who practice immortality.
There are three natural disasters, the first is a thunderstorm, the third is a wind disaster, as for the second time, the Bodhi Patriarch said to Sun Wukong: "Five hundred years after the thunderstorm, a fire will fall from the sky and burn you." This fire is not a heavenly fire, nor is it a mortal fire, it is called 'yin fire'. Burning from under its own springs, it penetrates the mud wall, the five organs turn into ashes, and the limbs are decayed, and the thousands of years of asceticism are illusory. ”
From the words of Patriarch Bodhi, it is not difficult for us to find that the Yin Fire can be regarded as the most rigid and fierce fire of the Three Realms, and it is more powerful than the civil and military fire of the Bagua Furnace, after all, it can instantly turn the thousand-year-old Dao into illusory.
So, how can we withstand the attack of yin fire? Bodhi Patriarch taught Sun Wukong a method of avoiding the three calamities, which is the famous seventy-two changes.
Seventy-two changes are not a simple art of change, after learning the seventy-two changes, not only master the art of change, have a strong attack power, the key is that the defense will also be greatly improved, and it may even be like the Taoist Dharma Protector Divine Skill Eight or Nine Xuangong, when the divine skill is cultivated to the ninth turn, as long as the Mud Pill Palace is not destroyed, the physical body will never be broken.
And as you know, Sun Wukong is extremely talented, and after the Bodhi Patriarch taught him seventy-two changes, he quickly cultivated to perfection, so he can withstand the attack of Yin Fire, and the civil and military fire don't want to hurt him.
