From Lee Teng-hui to Ah Bian, there was an interval of eight years between Ma Ying-jeou and Tsai Ing-wen, that is, they regarded themselves as a so-called "independent country" and created the illusion that Taiwan had become "independent" in various contexts.
Taiwan no longer has any "diplomatic" relations in the international community, and there are basically only a few small countries left, and the combined population is very small. However, some representatives of the organization claim to be ambassadors, and they maintain a self-absorbed mentality, deceiving young people that Taiwan is an "independent country" in the international community.
In the past, the people in the Blue Camp believed that the mainland and Taiwan were both defined as this in Taiwan's official documents, including the "Mainland Affairs Council's" position on the mainland, and they wanted to create such a context. Tsai Ing-wen holds the public office as the chairman of the "Mainland Affairs Council," and she sometimes says that the other party is China and sometimes Chinese mainland. Calling oneself Taiwan sometimes refers to the Taiwan region, often referring to "the country".
Tsai Ing-wen brainwashed the younger generation and said that Taiwan is an "independent country", so Tsai Ing-wen talked about the Taiwan region, and the green camp did not feel anything wrong, because it was his own people. And in a certain situation, Tsai Ing-wen said this, and the people in the green camp did not have any objection.
But because Han Kuo-yu is a thorn in their side and a representative of the blue camp, they have a Chinese concept, even if one China is clearly written in all documents in Taiwan, and the "Constitution" is also very clear. The double standards of the green camp are very serious, and when they hear these words about Taiwan, they are like thunder, thinking that this is the language of the Chinese Communist Party, so they themselves can say it, but Han Kuo-yu can't say it.
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) believes that Han Kuo-yu's remarks are the so-called "selling out of Taiwan" and hyping it up, which is the sad starting point of all Taiwan's problems. As soon as any issue involves the two sides of the strait, it immediately touches the nerves, and all the problems are attributed to "reunification or independence" and cross-strait antagonism. Therefore, the current mentality of the green camp is also an important reason why the United States, including the international community, is still very uneasy about Lai Qingde's imminent assumption of power. Lai Qingde relied on these people to carry him up, and what he would say in "520" expressed whether the definition of the two sides of the strait was between Taiwan and the state, or whether the definition of the two regions was a very worrying issue.
After the recent phone call between the Chinese and US presidents, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited Beijing, followed by Blinken. It is conceivable that these high-ranking US officials have visited Chinese mainland one after another, and it is conceivable that the topics of discussion cannot be separated from the Taiwan Strait, and the United States also needs the mainland's assistance in resolving some international problems facing the United States as well as domestic problems in the United States.
What does the United States use to exchange with Chinese mainland? High-level meetings between China and the United States must talk about the Taiwan Strait issue that China stresses, and this is a red line that China cannot cross. This point will be discussed at meetings at different levels, and if the United States steps on this red line when it intervenes in the Taiwan Strait issue, China will not be polite.
The United States is well aware of this and hopes that Lai Qingde will not make trouble, because at this time the United States needs to cooperate with China, including China's support on the current economic issues of the United States. In fact, no matter what Han Kuo-yu says, the DPP will pick a bone in the egg, and he talks about being cautious and chasing after the DPP.
Perhaps the DPP simply "de-sinicizes" and abolish the Qingming Festival altogether, without sacrificing ancestors, which may be faster for the DPP. But they will never dare to do so, because they will offend a lot of people and a lot of votes.
