In December 2023, the three national ministries and commissions jointly issued the "Opinions on Supporting Nansha, Guangzhou to Relax Market Access and Strengthen the Reform of the Regulatory System" (hereinafter referred to as the "Nansha Opinions"), supporting Nansha to take the lead in exploring the relaxation of market access in 11 key areas such as unmanned systems for land, sea and air, and the establishment of an international advanced technology application center (Greater Bay Area) to innovate application scenarios and promote the market application of cutting-edge disruptive technologies.
In order to implement the "Nansha Opinions", Nansha District has widely solicited application scenarios from enterprises, scientific research institutions and other sectors of society, sorted out the list of the first batch of application scenarios of the "Nansha Opinions", and vigorously promoted more new technologies, new products and new equipment to take the lead in the application and promotion of Nansha.
"Today, Nansha released the first application scenario of the all-space unmanned system of land, sea and air, which is one of the first list of scenarios after the launch of the "Nansha Opinions". Prior to this, Pony.ai's self-driving taxis have been running in Nansha for more than 6 years, carrying out continuous technological iterations, and are now quite mature in technology. After the release of the first batch of 15 application scenarios in Nansha at the annual investment meeting, Mo Luyi, vice president of Pony.ai and head of Guangshen R&D Center, said excitedly.
Mo Luyi mentioned that there are currently more than 100 self-driving taxis in operation in Nansha, and the fleet will be further expanded in the future. "In the future, we hope to not only operate in Nansha, but also cover other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so that more residents in the Greater Bay Area can experience a new mode of travel. ”
