Jiangxi and Hunan provinces are directly bordered, and they call each other "old cousins", which shows how close the two provinces are. First of all, from the mileage of the road network high-speed railway (design speed ≥ 200 kilometers per hour) that has been built in Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, the two provinces are almost the same, of which Jiangxi Province is 2294 kilometers, and Hunan Province is 2291 kilometers, and the total mileage Jiangxi Province is temporarily ahead by a slight advantage. Both high-speed railways are planned to be completed in 2027, with the Changjiu high-speed railway planned to be completed in the first half of 2027, while the Shaoyong high-speed railway is planned to be completed by the end of 2027. After the completion of the Changjiu high-speed railway, the north-south corridor of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour in Jiangxi will be fully connected, and the Shaoyong high-speed railway is an important section of the Hunan corridor, which is also of great significance.

Third, from the perspective of the high-speed rail to be started in the near future, the number of Hunan Province is significantly larger, and Jiangxi Province is weak. The proposed start here refers to the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, that is, this year and next year. Among these high-speed railways to be started, the Changjiang-Jiangxi high-speed railway connecting Changsha and Ganzhou is another inter-provincial high-speed railway between Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, and it is also the only high-speed rail in Jiangxi Province that plans to start construction this year and next year.
In addition, Hunan Province is also expected to start construction this year and next year, including the Tongji high-speed railway, the Yichang-Changde high-speed railway, and the Yilou high-speed railway. Finally, from the perspective of planned routes, there are no new lines in Jiangxi Province that have little hope of starting construction in the near future but belong to the "14th Five-Year Plan" railway plan. In contrast, there are many in Hunan Province, including the Guangqingyong high-speed railway, the Zhangjiajie-Shimen (Lixian) high-speed railway, the Qianjiang-Jishou section of the Chongqing-Hunan high-speed railway, and the Hengyang-Liuzhou section of the Nanheng high-speed railway. Among them, only the first section of Qianjiang to Ji has officially started the preliminary work at the national level, and the other three are all local (pre)feasibility study related work, even if the construction is expected to start, it will take until the "15th Five-Year Plan".

At present, we are striving to be included in the medium and long-term railway network planning and revision of the medium and long-term high-speed railway, including the national planning and local proposals, in the two provinces, there are probably these names, which belong to the two provinces of the inter-provincial high-speed (fast) railway, the Changjiu high-speed railway, the Hengji high-speed railway, the Xingyong-Chenjiang railway, are currently striving to be included in the plan.
Other medium- and long-term planned high-speed railways, Jiangxi Province mainly includes Wuxianchang high-speed railway, Xianxiu-Yiji high-speed railway, Ganlongxia high-speed railway, Changfu (Xiamen) high-speed railway, Jiuchi high-speed railway, Lu'anjing railway, etc. Hunan Province has Jingyue high-speed railway, Huaigui high-speed railway, Jixiuyi high-speed railway, etc. It should be pointed out that some of the medium- and long-term high-speed rail plans of the two provinces are only locally planned lines, and there is still great uncertainty about whether they can enter the medium- and long-term railway network planning under revision.
