Zhao Mengfu came to the comparison of the Forbidden City book and the Poly book of "Huang Tingjing".

"Huang Tingjing", the book of Wang Xi, small letters, one hundred lines. It was originally a silk copy of Huang Su, which was copied and engraved on the stone in the Song Dynasty, and there was a rubbing. This post is smooth and perfectly structured. The font is large and small, the strokes are thick and thin, under the premise of maintaining the overall harmony, the morphological changes between the characters are enhanced, and the dynamic beauty is present; on the knot, the strokes are inclined sideways, the left is light and the right is heavy, and the staggered fall is caused, so that the words have a sense of lightness and elegance; in the use of the pen, the gesture is smooth, the beginning and end are stretched, and it is regarded as the most small Kai by later generations. Ancient and modern calligraphers all draw nourishment from it, such as Zhiyong, Ouyang Xun, Yu Shinan, Chu Suiliang, Zhao Mengfu, etc., all of whom explored the path of Wang Shu from the "Huang Ting Jing" and got the inspiration of beauty.

This post is extremely strict, and its atmosphere is also easy, with the attitude of a beautiful and cheerful man. There is a legend about Huang Tingjing: there is a scholar in Shanyin, who wants to get Wang Xi's calligraphy, because he knows that he loves geese, so he specially prepared a cage of fat and big white geese as a reward for writing scriptures. Wang Xizhi saw that the goose happily wrote a scripture for the Taoist priest for a long time, and happily "returned from the cage goose". The original text is contained in the Southern Dynasty's "On the Book Table", in which it is stated that Wang Xizhi's book is the "Tao" and "De" scriptures, and later because of repeated transmission, it became the "Huang Ting Jing".

Therefore, "Huang Tingjing" is also commonly known as "Changing Goose Post", without money, and the end is signed "Yonghe 12th year (356) May", and now only the copy of the engraved version of the later generations is left.

"Huang Tingjing" has many famous masters handed down, such as Zhiyong, Ouyang Xun, Yu Shinan, Chu Suiliang, Zhao Mengfu, etc., they all explored the path of Wang Shu and got the inspiration of beauty. However, some people think that the penmanship of Xiaokai's "Huang Tingjing" is not similar to Wang Xizhi, so there is also a distinction between authenticity and falsehood.

In May 2023, the 100 million-level lot on the Beijing Poly Spring Auction - Zhao Mengfu's "Linhuang Tingjing" appeared for the first time in a century. This is written by Zhao Mengfu at the age of 49 and self-proclaimed at the age of 69, and the heart of the book is as long as 1. The 2-meter small Kai peak handscroll has been handed over by important collectors of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

Prior to this, the well-known Zhao Mengfu Xiaokai's "Linhuang Ting Jing" only has one volume in the Palace Museum, which is a national first-class cultural relic. As soon as Poly Ben came out, experts and scholars praised it one after another, and Poly Ben was beyond the existence of the Forbidden City. There are five reasons for this:

First, in terms of calligraphy, many calligraphers believe that the artistic value of Poly is better, such as Liu Zhengcheng, editor-in-chief of the Complete Works of Chinese Calligraphy, who proposed that "compared with the collection of the Forbidden City, the Poly book is more loose and lively, and it is more worthy of copying and learning." ”

Second, in terms of the integrity of the text of the "Huang Ting Jing", Poly Ben has more words than the Forbidden City Ben "Ling, Ke, and Staff".

The third is that Poly has a clear chronology - it was written by Shu Jibo when Zhao Mengfu was 49 years old on April 18, the sixth year of Dade (1302), and the Forbidden City collection simply wrote the name of "Mengfu".

Fourth, the Forbidden City has only other inscriptions, and Poly not only has other inscriptions, but also very rare Zhao Mengfu's self-inscriptions, and this self-inscription book was written three months before Zhao Mengfu's death, which is Zhao Mengfu's chronicle of Xiaokai's pen, and clearly records Zhao Mengfu's important calligraphy thoughts on "temporary posts".

Fifth, from the perspective of the collection, Poly Ben had Deng Wenyuan, Gong Kui, Gong Xuan, three Zhao friends inscriptions, Ke Jiusi collection, Ming and Qing dynasties for Huaxia, Xiang Yuanbian, Liu Shu, Xu Yingjiao, Zhang Yunzhong collection. Xiang Yuanbian, a great collector of the Ming Dynasty, was listed as the most cherished thousand-character collection sequence in his collection, and compiled the "elephant" font number.

Compared with the Forbidden City, the heavyweights and inscriptions in the collection are comparable, but the number of Zhao Mengfu's own seals and the seals of the past dynasties is far superior.
