British car rental company Cazoo (Kazoo) is still the sponsor of the 2024 World Snooker Championship, which is the second consecutive year that the company has sponsored the World Snooker Championship.
Kazoo has been sponsoring major snooker events since the 2020/2021 season, but due to the company's poor performance in recent years, the company has stopped sponsoring other snooker events since the beginning of last season and only sponsored the 2023 Snooker World Championship.
To date, Cazoo has sponsored the Players Series (World Grand Prix, Players Championship, Tour Championship), the Triple Major, as well as the Open Championship in 2022 and the Champion of Champions in 2021 and 2022.
According to last year's prize distribution, the total prize money of the 2024 World Championships will remain at 2.395 million pounds, which is the nearly 6th consecutive year that the World Snooker Championship has adopted the same prize standard:
£2,395,000 in prize money, £500,000 for champion, £200,000 for runner-up, £100,000 for the quarterfinals, £50,000 for the quarterfinals, £50,000 for the quarterfinals, £30,000 for the round of 16, £20,000 for the round of 32 (first round); The highest prize in a single stroke: £15,000, and the 147 set up a separate prize: £40,000.
Cazoo will also sponsor the 2024 World Snooker Championship Qualifying Tournament from April 8 to 17, with four rounds of qualifying, with no prize money for the first round, and the prize money for advancing to the second round: £5,000, the third round for £10,000, the fourth (final) round for £15,000, and the qualifying round for 147 will also receive £10,000.
In last year's World Championships, Kyren Wilson hit a 147 in the first round, and Selby hit his first shot of 147 in the final of the World Championships, which gave them an equal share of £55,000 (£40,000 for the main draw 147 and £15,000 for the top prize in a single stroke).
According to the 147 new reward system implemented by the World Taiwan Federation in the current season: if two or more players can score two or more strokes of 147 in this year's "three major tournaments" (World Championships, British Championships, Masters, including World Championship Qualifying Tournament), these players will share up to 147,000 pounds in prize money.
The sponsor who has sponsored the World Snooker Championship for the longest time is still "Embassy Brand Tobacco Company" (1975-2005), followed by BETFRED Company (which has sponsored 12 World Championships so far: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), "888 Company" has sponsored 3 times (2006-2008), and BETFAIR ( Two sessions: 2013, 2014).
