Cinnamomum is a medicinal dried fruit with a long history. However, if you trace its position in the "Shennong's Materia Medica", there is a special story.

Cinnamomum is used in medicine

In the "Shennong's Materia Medica" compiled by Sun Xingyan and Sun Fengyi in the Qing Dynasty, it is the old end of the 365 flavor medicines - it is listed as a lower grade medicine, or the last taste, classified as "unknown". At that time, it was not called Xianghua, but "Pizi". There is a note that it is "from the wood", so "柀子" should also be its name. Moreover, "Erya" notes that "he is a zi", then his son is also "zizi" and "zizi".

"Shennong's Materia Medica" is classified according to whether the drug is poisonous, and the three grades of drugs are classified, and this delicious dried fruit should be listed as a top-grade medicine, why is it listed among the inferior medicines? Is it because it has the effect of killing insects, it is regarded as "poison", and the ancients only dared to use it to treat diseases and insects, but did not dare to enjoy this "crab" that no one had eaten?

Bizi "retired from the "Tang Dynasty", this is Sun Xingyan's annotation, which means that the literature of the Tang Dynasty listed it as a Chinese medicine. In addition to being divided into upper, middle and lower grades, Sun Xingyan's compilation of Shennong's Materia Medica also classifies drugs according to the natural attributes of medicinal taste, which is one of jade, grass, wood, human, animal, poultry, insects and fish, fruit, rice and vegetables. He belongs to "unknown", and this classification is the only one, so it can be traced back to the "Shennong Materia Medica", and the early medicinal use of the citron tree is still quite foggy.

In "Famous Doctors", Tao Hongjing also called it "Zhenzi", but the situation at that time was the worst. Because "Tao Hong Jingyun: The Fang family has never used this person. Ancient and modern doctors and pharmacists are no longer recognized. Another son-in-law. I don't know what it looks like. According to Tao Hongjing, at that time, he was afraid that this taste of "other sons" could only be classified as "famous and useless". However, ""Famous Doctor" said: Shengyongchang. "The Yongchang County established in the Eastern Han Dynasty is located in the western part of present-day Yunnan Province and the northern part of Myanmar, and it should be the place where there are quirks in the south. It shows that Tao Hongjing still knows its origin, and it can be inferred from the above documents that he has only heard of it but has not seen the real thing.

Zhang Yuxi in the Northern Song Dynasty definitely knew this flavor medicine, and the plant characteristics he said were very compatible. "Zhangyu Xiyun: The tree is like a cedar, and the child is like a betel nut. ”

It is no wonder that it was included in the Tang Dynasty Meng Xu's "Dietary Therapy Materia Medica", saying that it said: "Cure inch white worms: seven quince eclipses, full of seven days." In Wu Rui's "Daily Materia Medica" in the Yuan Dynasty, there are also the names of red fruit and jade.

Cinnamomum chinensis is used for medicinal purposes, and has the effects of relieving cough and moistening the lungs, eliminating chancre accumulation, and repelling insects and slipping the intestines. It is suitable for a variety of constipation, hernia, hemorrhoids, indigestion, food accumulation, and phlegm cough. In the "Compendium of Materia Medica", it is recorded that the quince is "often eaten, cures five hemorrhoids, removes the poison of the three insects, and is vicious in ghost malaria." Eat it, cure the white worm. Li Shizhen followed the name of "Famous Doctors" and listed it in the thirty-first volume of the fruit department.

Quince can be used for a variety of intestinal parasitic diseases, such as pediatric roundworms, pinworms, hookworms, etc., and its insecticidal ability is comparable to that of traditional Chinese medicine. In Su Shi's poem, the sentence "Driving away the three Peng hatreds has made me sick of my heart" also says that it repels insects and kills insects and cures pain in the heart. Taoism uses "three peng" to refer to the three kinds of pests that haunt the human body, also called "three corpses" or "three insects". The idiom "the hatred of the three Pengs" describes the three human parasites as the enemies of human beings. It kills insects without hurting the spleen and stomach, and can moisten the intestines and facilitate the discharge of insects, so it is a more effective and safe anthelmintic drug.
