The United Nations Security Council reached an agreement on the 8th to accept Palestine's application to join the United Nations as a full member of the United Nations. It is our sincere hope that, 12 years after we have been observer States, the Council will be able to implement the global consensus on the two-State solution through the application of Palestine for full membership.

Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Erdan, said that the goal of the Palestinians is to exterminate the Jews, and if Palestine becomes a member of the United Nations, it will be committed to terrorist activities and the elimination of Israel.

Palestine is currently an observer in the United Nations, and the admission of Palestine as a full Member of the United Nations requires the concurrence of the Security Council and the General Assembly.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas applied in 2011 to become a full member of the United Nations, but the United States said that an agreement must be reached between Palestine and Israel first, and threatened to use veto power in the Security Council, so Palestine suspended the application.
